Billy Bilsteins

I've had the standard mk4 bilsteins on for about a month - huge improvement over the originals after 19yrs! With new wishbones, bushes, ball joints it's all gone very quiet and smooth and feels really planted. The drop links were the only suspension part I didn't replaced - have you got part numbers?
Thanks
Andrew
I used the links specified for a MK VII [1997-2012] Honda Civic on the front (Febi Bilstein brand), for the rears I went with the links from a Mk3 Mondeo estate [2000/2001] (Delphi brand), the total cost was £44.67.Thanks
Andrew
Sorry to resurrect, but I came across this useful topic while doing some research.
My current Eibach/Bilstein setup has gone very soft - especially at the rear, so I have emailed Ben to get some advice for replacement. I like the idea of a slightly stiffer setup still using Bilsteins, so the Tuscan setup sounds interesting.

I'm still super happy with mine, I had the MoT today so we had the car on the ramp and I had a good look, no leaks and by Billies are in fine shape. My current Eibach/Bilstein setup has gone very soft - especially at the rear, so I have emailed Ben to get some advice for replacement. Do consider the drop links I list above too, they have proved excellent performing and much quieter than the Leven rose jointed ones I had on the car before, they were also cheap as chips
Ben Lang will sort you out on the Bilstein front, he's a nice honest chap with impeccable credentials, former chief chassis designer at TVR and latterly the designer of the Arial Atom and Nomad suspension.... you'll be in safe talented hands
Dave.
After having some advice from Ben via email and reading the various useful stuff on here, I have decided to order the Chimaera sports setup as detailed on here. Lead time is a couple of weeks, but I will update as to how I get on, bearing in mind my car doesn't have the extra gas stuff in the boot.
I must say that Ben is very reasonably priced when you consider the charges from the usual suspects. It works out the same for the upgrade kit from Ben as it does for the standard stuff elsewhere.

I've had a set Tuscon s 2's waiting to go on since last summer, but im in the throws of a full chassis up rebuild at the mo, so hopefully will be experiencing them soon.
My take on them was; I'd rather have developed oem product that I can fit and forget, than an entry level adjustable set up for a similar price. Also, I don't understand the reasoning for many people using other after market shocks that seem to require rebuilds or freshening up after not many years - not the sort of thing I find acceptable.
I 'think' we've made a good choice

All fitted this afternoon. Slight issue in that one of the front bottom bolts had seized to the bush sleeve. Some cursing and patient hacksawing to get it out without damage to the wishbone.
I am really pleased with this setup. Ride is so smooth but body control is also miles better. I can’t believe how bad my 6 year old Bilstein setup was.
Thanks for the initial write up, Dave - it was instrumental in my decision!

I see 2 versions now available, normal and sport.
Do most opt for the sport versions?
We must do, if only for the street cred. Do most opt for the sport versions?
One couldn't possibly admit to buying the granddad version, Shirley?
To paraphrase a good friend, when we were recently discussing Boxsters, I suggested he keep the budget down and consider a 2.7.
"I couldn't possibly consider anything less than a 3.4 S".
We are all a bit guilty of this, me too.
I bought a Saab 9-5 2.3 Aero (means high output turbo) with a manual gearbox 4 years ago, for all the same reasons. They only make 260 bhp at maximum revs, the rest of the time they are just the same to drive as the low pressure turbo 2.3 (170 bhp) - my wife has one with an auto box.
Both cars in my hands take exactly the same distance to reach 70, and the auto box is far nicer as a daily driver.
Vanity dealt with, manual Aero binned and a nice 2.3 T SE auto bought to replace it for under a grand.
Just ordered a set of Tuscan 'S' Billies for my Chim 450, from Ben Lang at Blackdown. I'm currently running a set of Gaz shockers. They were on the car when purchased. They're not great...(awful).
Expect to see them sometime this week and If I get the chance, I'll have them on this weekend. I'll let you know the difference.
