Experimenting with 3M Walnut wrap for the radio panel. Think it's good enough to proceed to the dash?
Nice stuff to work with and seriously cheaper than new veneer.

Excellent, have you got a link?

I looked at vinyl before having a go at reveneering. It took me weeks before I got it right and then it bloomed one hot day in the car!

Snap! So am I, this afternoon in fact. Are you using the 3M Di-Noc stuff from the eBay site in Poland or Hungary or wherever?......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-DI-NOC-364GN-WG364GN-... Lots of different sizes.

First results look promising but for £18.00 it must be worth a try.

I first saw it here.....

http://pub25.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?us...

This is my attempt.....

Would like to see pictures of your car when finished.

Yes that's exactly the stuff I'm using. Prompt delivery and cheap.
It's amazing how much you can work this stuff with a little hot air gun warming.

It's actually a little darker in the flesh than the photos show. I'm realitively pleased with the result.

Done mine a while ago in carbon thumbup As with most things, it's all about the preparation. Sand the panels flat until there are no imperfections, there's one little dot that I missed on mine and it drives me crazy because it's right in front of your face all of the time.

I saw someone spray lacquer over the finished wrap once and it made it indistinguishable from the real thing, no idea if it all flaked off though and looked like carbon fibre scabies in a week hehe

Sadly I'm old enough to remember fablon too!
Think the product has moved on somewhat since then though.

On Blue Peter they called it "Sticky Back Plastic". Still have the gallon ice cream tub covered in this as a waste bin in the bedroom.

Ahhh does that make me old too?

Any idea how I get the bulb and holder out of the Mil light? Do I have to carefully scrape away what looks like glue?

Griffs don't have a MIL light like this but all my LEDs were glued in. I just went around each one with a scalpel or slim craft knife.

Would like to see a pic. when finished.

You have to unsolder the two blobs of solder holding the small circuit board to the lamp. Then ease the black spring washer up the lamp holder. It'll then come out through the front. I think the lamp is just a bulb so polarity shouldn't be a problem but just in case it's probably worth ensuring that you resolder it the same way round

It's so glossy as it comes I doubt that it would make any difference.

Lacquer would also offer a tougher surface, vinyl is very soft in comparison to the original dash surface
