Bit of a dilemma here...il try and explain the best i can.

Last weekend the car struggled to lock with the keyfob, took a few goes and it worked thought nothing of it.

Took the car out this sunday and i have the same problem but its got worse, took at least 15-20 button presses to get the car to lock. Tried it today and it doesnt work at all.

Tried it with the spare and its the same thing. Checked both fob batterys and they are fine.

Got into the car with the manual release, all electrics work including the doors, alarm, fuel pump etc.

Ive disconnected the battery/control box for 10 minutes and it hasnt reset the key fob. Checked the silver key and it looks fine. The car starts and the immobiliser key fob works.

The windows dont fully shut on the drivers side due to the car not locking. Ive taped it up and disconnected the battery to leave overnight.

Read online you can reset the fob by holding down the button a few seconds after reconnecting the battery so going go try that.

Before i take it in anywhere has anyone got an ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks

You don't say how old the fob cells are but change the batteries if you've not already done so. Their voltages may look OK but their ability to deliver the current necessary may be impaired due to age. Rule out the most obvious cause first.

It sounds like a problem with the alarm unit itself rather than the fobs.

I've had recent problems with the immobiliser on my Tuscan and had great advice and service from HF Solutions who specialise in TVR alarm and immobilisers. May be worth a call.

Sorry I forgot to mention the batteries were changed about 6 months ago, Ive got some more to replace in both key fobs to try that out before I seek advice.

I will give HF a ring if all this doesn't work.

Might sound odd but have all your tests been completed in the same place? Interference can be a problem. . . if someone has installed a bit of electrical kit which is in the same frequency range (833Mhz?) then this could cause these symptoms. Many manufacturers installed secondary keypads / keys for this reason in the 90s/noughties. Just a thought. . .

When I was out it was difficult to lock/unlock, then just gradually stopped working. I can try somewhere else and see what happens.
