At long last work is starting on a new house for my TVRs.

Not sure how long it's going to take but looking forward to more space. Only downside is the cars are in storage for the summer and they'll be back with me in time for winter, think I got that one wrong somehow

72 ton of dolly

will be big enough for 4 cars - any more than that and the missus would go ape

Looks like a sloping site to me, interesting preparation though are you forming a raft Foundation?

Raft foundation due to trees in close proximity to build. Engineer specified 900mm deep across the site before putting the dolly in. I think it's overkill but they have to sign it off.

You're not kidding about overkill; I would have recommended a new engineer. Anyway you can sleep sound in the knowledge that it's not going anywhere.

not this year, although interestingly there is an old concrete boat aground in the River Wear the Cretehauser, built around 1918 by the Sunderland Concrete Building Company, a subsidiary of Swan Hunter

Steve
The pan is for the roof trusses to be half high level so that I can get a lift in eventually and half attic trusses for storage.

Little bit of work going on in the human house as well, but the priority is to finish outside and get the cars back from their enforced holiday at HHC

seeing the thickness of the raft reminds me of the 1st extension I built and experienced being the man between the planner, building control, builder and architect.

I ended up with the largest possible roof timbers, bolted together at double thickness and a nice bill for extras. it was all caused by one of them saying that the calculations were wrong. This became interpreted as the timbers being too small and then buying huge timbers and someone saying again "the calculations are wrong" and then doubling everything and bolting it all together whilst I was working away.

At least you know its not moving anytime soon!
