Has anyone relocated the heater pipes that run across the drives side rocker cover?
Currently have the inlet manifold off etc for a cam change and wondered about any jobs that are beneficial to do while its all apart.

It's not that bad to do if your only dumping the heater pipes

Can only say I have had nothing but grief since tapping a heater feed into the back of the boss under the manifold and dropping the return into the water pump. Feed from the original 'uphill' point then looping under the valley with a return the same way back to the swan neck tee worked fine however.

Probably a complete coincidence but I really wish I never bothered with this one

Haven't had any problems

No, and nor have others, but can only comment based on my own experience. I still like the idea but...

I was thinking there might be enough space under the inlet to run a pair of copper pipes with some elbows etc and stick to the existing water connections, im guessing 15 mm with some olives should work as the existing size is about 16 mm ID.

on the early engines that is exactly where the run is much easier to work around the engine especially on the drivers side

That's it run them down the valley
On mine
1 pipe with a 90 deg on the the bulkhead side to reconnect the heater
The other has the same 90 deg at the bulkhead but also has on at the front to pickup the lower hose

It is indeed, with the (perhaps) crucial difference there is also a degas/bypass loop from the top of the IM to the water pump inlet that is simply not present on a serp, which uses the heater circuit for that purpose. I tried replicating that by the way but as well as making things very busy with pipework in addition to the turbo related stuff, it did not solve the problem (albeit it did calm down warm-up spiking).

If anyone want to run solid pipes down the V, 15mm stainless is available (although not usually stocked by the DIY crew) and a mandrel bender witl just about form the necessary bends.to get on the original outlet and return with some silicone in between (the top one is very tight but doable).

Maybe the chromed 15mm pipe would be suitable with some of these

As above 15mm SS was used on mine
Got it from eBay
I used a standard plumbers bending tool
Brazed some olives on as barbs and the jobs a good one

What were the issues you suffered?
Been thinking of doing this mod. On a serp engine with the heater set to cold then this bypass route is closed so is this when you saw the issues.
