Is it possible to fit 70s style Wolfrace slot alloys to a 1995 Chimaera? Back in the day (1985) I had a Taimar with slot alloys. I now have my Chimaera which came with 17" alloys plus the original "Imola" wheels and tyres. The car looks great but the ride is rather harsh.....I'm not a great fan of the Imola style wheels and thought Wolfrace would look great and also be a deeper profile offering a more comfy ride. Any ideas?

I doubt slot mags would be available in a suitable size for a Chimaera ,unless you buy bespoke from someone like Image wheels.

And bloody heavy things too
I've seen steel wheels lighter than Wolfies

But adding a bit of beef on the wheels might actually smooth the ride coupled with shocks to suit if it’s predominantly a road car.
Obviously it’s dulling down the sensitivity but if your a cruiser rather than a speed man might just work. smile or not!

Nope. The lower the unsprung weight in relation to the sprung weight, the better the ride. It's as simple as that, really.

yes Something like this is maybe your only option as I think Simon (Sardonicus) investigated this before.

If you do get them please post pics when they're on the car. Back in the day I had Cobra Super Slots with red inserts on my Viva GT cloud9

(might just make that 'old fool' spend some of his pension....... wink )

thumbup Drove it from RAF Scampton to RAF St Athan (220 miles) and back every week while on my engine fitter course. It blew up on the M4 near Cardiff on a Friday evening eek Got it towed back by a mate to the motor club Saturday morning. Engine fully stripped by around 3pm. 10am Sunday was at a car parts warehouse who had stock of a std piston, rings, mains and big ends - cost £70 inc head gasket etc. Car was running at 7pm Sunday evening. Ya couldn't do that in a Tiv...... wink

RAF engine fitter = limitless supplies of Hylomar wink It was a white original 2 litre 1968 (no Magnum 2.3 transplant) with matt black bonnet and vents, with a double red pinstripe along the sides and black vinyl roof (of course). Still have the tappet adjuster kicking about somewhere ......... tumbleweed

Ah yeh those were the days, bizarre arrangment cam buckets with a window every turn on those screws was 3 thou IIRC and you had different/service part size grub screws if they was out of tolerance to allow rescaling of adjustment scratchchin many people succumb to burnt exhaust valves on this motor because they tried to hush the slight tappet noise which was normal on this motor headache I've just gone all misty laugh

Spoke to Harry at Image Wheels. Apparently because of the size of calipers etc they cannot creat the "dish" effect of the Wolfrace. The wheel would have a flatter appearance which does not appeal to me. I'll just have to sit on a cushion!! A question...It's lovely down here on the Kent/East Sussex border today. Worth a blast in the car?, or is there still too much salt on the road. I'm paranoid about me chassis & outriggers rotting!!

Longer wheel studs and spacers an option maybe?
