Hallo,

I'am lookig for the long metal tube between AFM and air filter for a V8s.
It is for a Dutch club member putting his car together but for some reason he has lost the "pipe".

PS He is also looking for the doorrubber between outer doorskin and window. If anyone knows a source.

Thanks and regards Hans.

Silicone tube would give more heat resistance to the AFM and plenty available in the right i/d off evilbays.

Door seal - Powers got a new supply recently did they not????

.
This bit?

Got mine from Pheonix Trim, their website is not very good but it's on page 21 of their catalogue .

Part number IRS 1656 EP J

The big intake tube is possibly a bit too long to do it all in Silicone, but it's a fairly simple bit of pipework to get make locally in alluminium or stainless?

The alloy tube is an ugly thing that belongs on a tractor IMHO. How about a much neater solution?

This uses the original TVR air filter and as far as I can tell on the road, there is no change in the performance.

There is room on mine to run that hose straight forward and out on front of the rad to get a cold air intake, but Joe's design is much easier to make and less visually intrusive.

Hallo Joe,

Like your solution. Might take that on to me own V8s rebuild that I will start shortly.
I presume that is straight forward "plumbing".
Is it not affected by spray when driving in the rain. ??

Regards
Hans.

Hi Hans

It's as simple as it looks in the photo. So long as there is just a very small gap between the inner wheel arch on the body and the one on the bonnet there's no problem with road spray and the little mesh screen I've made keeps any small stones off the end of the air filter.

The other refinements I made were to move the expansion tank to make more room for the air filter element and make a double skin heat shield to give the element some protection from the exhaust manifold.

The expansion tank is one of Shaun's stainless jobs and sits next to the swirl tank.

Sorry Hans, I'm keeping my old one in case anyone is silly enough to want to make the engine bay look ugly at some point in the distant future smile
