Even no PAS Griffiths and Chimaera are not exactly heavy say compared to a 70's Capri 3.0 V6 with that heavy old boat anchor up front 450 pound ish and an heavy all cast iron gearbox to improve things even further now they was heavy but we all coped , dont even get me started on Transit vans from the 70's/80's I had a MK1 Transit with a non assisted steering box and a Big Block fitted and you just got on with it we are all spoilt by these modern trinkets

Crickey that’s heavy. Edited by Sardonicus on Friday 16th August 13:04
Mk1 Transit,,, lovely steering feel until loaded up, grabbed your attention after that a bit like a form of stability control, don’t lean it in to hard is the lesson

For comments like (too light at speed) exactly who makes large corrections at speed anyway ? a huge handful of steering non PAS or PAS or otherwise is still a large handful of turning be it light of weighted I'm Confused.com , plus the Scooby conversion is no more weighted than a fully functional TVR pas system and I have driven two with said conversion
Hi Simon, for me it is to light on the road due to the feedback and bumps in the road making the car twitchy around straight ahead. On a smooth track it’s fine at speed and also, tracks true with no hands on the wheel, so it’s about the feel, not the set up of the car. It’s not from memory either. I ran both cars at the same time for a while, so could go from one to the other. Both had new suspension and set up by the same person. The only variable was the assistance and quicker steering rack.
This thread needs a nice picture.
If someone give me 25 for mine I might be tempted by this. Maybe. One day possibly.

That is a very interesting proposition. If that was a 997 and a couple Id be all over something like that. For me though it isn't about power or speed. I find my Chimaera 400 plenty fast enough for me on the road. Even would find it fine on a track. Had a hoot in it on a North Weald Airfield driving training day.
I decided to buy Mac's old 450 not because it was a fast powerful Turbo car. In fact the Turbo bit put me off a fair bit. I just liked it for being a very nice 450 with lovely attention to detail. I prefer a Speed 6 front end, like the Spiders and the engine bay was mint. I would have probably left it at 300bhp Stage 1 most or all of the time.
My 400 doesn't seem anything other than stock. Can't be down on power much if at all from specs as feels fast enough to me. A very nice standard 450 or 500 would do me nicely.
I night even keep them 400 and buy an MX-5 with the extra cash instead. Just going to swap the Alfa GT 3.2 V6 Busso I have for a supercharged R53 Mini Cooper S for a month with a friend.

HHC have a 2 owner silver chim 500 they have just taken in. Its not on website yet might be worth a phonecall. Difficult to assess its condition as it was lashing down . But tony said it was a decent car, they have been looking after it for yearsI night even keep them 400 and buy an MX-5 with the extra cash instead. I bought my wife an MX5 for her birthday. I'm surprised how Chimaera-like it is, but smaller.
And no 'TVR tax' on bits.
Tvr tax, your kidding, what’s a headlight cost And no 'TVR tax' on bits.
MX5 is a Chimaera inspired rip off if you ask me. Just more reliable, more sophisticated well everything really, except it’s not a Tvr Chimaera and it doesn’t sound very good and nothing like the same handsome looks a Chimaera posses but hey wives and accountants like em.
Handle great and multi adjust, great cars but nope I’m not biting
