...apart from all the nostalgic feelings, can't believe she has 'appreciated' £10,000 in 5 years!

Wonder if I made the right choice?

Nice looking car, but for the sake of true value don't forget to deduct Dealers Mark-up!

Agreed.

And the work that has been done to it - Outriggers and clutch.

Just makes you wonder - that's all.

Wow - that's a big question.

It's the completion of every boy's dream to own - the noise, the looks, the shear joy it brought on a hot summers day.

I'm guessing you are more concerned about condition!

Hard to say for sure now, I sold it 5 years ago, but owned it from 1998-2013.

It sounds like money has been spent on the important bits, so I would think it well worth a look.

It was getting to the age when electric connections were starting to suffer, (e.g. wing mirror adjustment and buttons not working) but the engine was solid.

Hope it gets a good new home.

I can empathise, having sold a Chimaera for less money than I am willing to admit on here.

And I loved that car, never mind the value. I still mentally kick myself.

Guess it depends on what you replaced it with?

5y ago, prices for Griffith weren´t so high as now.....it was the time where the prices start to rise, but a body off restored 5L girffith could be still purchased for 12k (guess why i know? wink )...than some dealers started to "collect" cars from the market and a sudden price increase (at least in the advertized prices) was visible.

giffiths from dealers where suddenly advertized @ 18 to 25k....but never sold...at least majority.... only a few changed hands....but the final sales price was always a big secret (if you asked the dealers).

Don't get me wrong, I don't think i was taken advantage of, and am fully supportive of those who make a living dealing with the marque - long may it survive.

At the time, that was just under the going price and I didn't fancy the task of getting the outriggers done (Beyond my level of competency).

My point is that we all believe our car choices will one day be future classics, and now glad to say it is.

As for now, I have a similar car for the weekends. One which I smile everytime I get into, and believe will one day start to 'appreciate'. Just hope it's still mine when it does!

Seems a fair price for a dealer to me. They are quite rare I believe, the 4.3. Powers engine rebuild is a big plus but according to the MoT history, it was at least 13 years ago!

The carbon effect dash won't be to everybody's taste and no shots of the engine bay. No PAS probably and the outriggers were done in 2014. If it's been driven in all weathers (unlikely I know), they may be beginning to suffer again already! If they were done professionally though (should have been powder coated), they'll be OK.

Shame you couldn't have hung on to it, I was looking at buying a Griff 500 6 years ago, back then it was quite common to see them going for 12/15k. Now you can cheerfully ad about 5k and upwards, dealer cars even more obviously.
They are going up in value, no question about that, but for me it's not an investment, and I know at some point I'll have to sell mine, for various reasons, but it's not going to be easy, I'll live on baked beans first!

But sadly, Griffs have risen in value ( asking prices ) Far less than most other ( admitedly older classics )
The lovely / every £££ upgrade 1978 RS2000 MK2 in Venetian red, that i Really struggled to Very reluctantly sell in 2010 for £6 grand, is now £25k plus.
In hind sight, maybe, i should have sold the Griff instead, but.... it is a Far more useable car than the RS2000 could ever be.
The very nice ( but burning oil ) 88 3.2 Careera Coupe that i Really struggled to get out of in October 08 for £10,400 to a Porsche trader, is now £35 k Plus 🙈

Super hard isnt it.

But then keeping a car on the boat for ten years costs too, storage space, maintenance etc, even if you dont drive it. We all know people who weighed in cars that was common as muck and worthless rusting mess, but are not worth a mint.

In 1975 while still living in Sydney I came to Yorkshire for a 4 month holiday. I was going to hire a new mini for 4 months but it was cheaper to buy an 8 year old DB6 Vantage which I then took back to OZ; kept it for 10 years but sold it before they were highly collectable, not a chance of ever owning one now.

I thought that in the OP.

You said it much more eloquently than I...

Aussie, that's a lovely story re your DB6 !!
Tell us more re buying and owning it ?
A sadly recently Late friend swapped his DB6 for a Verona red 3.0 CSL, at Hexagon in 1978. I managed to track down his Aston for him a couple of years ago!
