Hi all,
Just invested in my 96 4.0 Chim and very pleased so far. Lots of small issues to sort out and making good ground, but loving every minute. Digging around I have found two bare wires just between the bottom of the alternator and the distribute cap. Everything seems to be working electrically but any ideas would be much appreciated

Also, does anyone recognize this sensor to the right of the brown plug? It has a round connection on top? just in front of the passenger side rocker cover?

Many thanks,

The unused sensor is the original Rover coolant sensor (gauge). not used by TVR.

For your spare wires it would help if you can identify the colours.

One cable is black and the other is black/green. The bible does not help

The black will most likely be earth.
Only Black/green I am aware of is part of the aircon wiring but I don't have any circuit diagrams for that so can't help further. Having said that from where the wire is located it could have gone to a compressor or a temp sensor.

Hi.Just had a look at my V8 build diagram and the black, black/green cables are for the compressor clutch on cars with aircon. Some more info but not sure you need it if no aircon fitted. The cables should have a round plug on the end,2 cavities, part NoAFU3692[Lucas].Cavity 1 is cable No99[black/green].Cavity 2 is cable No100[black=earth]. Black/green cable goes to compressor clutch relay cavity87 by engine ecu. Any other probs with engine harness give us a shout.Regards.Dave.

Hello, is there any chance of you sending me a copy of your V8 build diagram?

Hi.I will probably have to get a price from printers, its quite large i'd say 5'x3'.I'll get a price and get back.Just to say it's not a schematic diagram it's how Lucas manufactured the harness on a peg board. Dave.

Thank you for the reply, I thought you possibly had some real good schematic diagrams, an image would be of no use to me

If you do have any diagrams to share I am always interested and may have something for you

Thanks anyway, have a good evening

Thanks Dave,
My Chim has no air con, so I presume these are just surplus on my car

Yes. There are also a number of relay basses around the loom that are for A/C. Two of them are in the cluster in the footwell.
