what's a chimaera look like?
Discussion
I was wandering what you think is the closest design to the chimaera on the auto industry? Except a cerbera
for me, on the front end:
- Alfa? an old spider with more shape like a giulia tz2?
- Ac Cobra?
- A fury kitcar?
- A MGB?
-Jaguar XKSS?
- Porsche 959? (i dont know why but this one get on top of the list even if it is less curvy!)
For the rear:
I cant find anything close there! I think it's pretty unique and from what i can see "love it or hate it"
The only thing that come in my mind are lates 1940 or 1950 cars like the Pontiac chieftain or some Buicks from the same period!
Some boattail are inspiring me too (Studebaker etc).
Do you have some better ideas?

Both front and rear it just crying out to be a Griff, but alas it will have to remain the runt of the family.
I'm afraid i'm not ok with your pov... except the famous TVR door gap for me they have really not a lot in common; i'll need to change every car in this list if i had to do it for the griff (I would put type E on top of this list but also 250gto and a few more ferraris from this era).I still think the griff is very beautifull but in a really different way...
With all my respects, I dont think the chimaera is the runt of any familly. TVR had produce some really stter car before her on every point possible (I dont want to name any because beauty is in the eyes of the owners!).
It still share a frame and an engine with the car you seems to love and own (so lucky you are, but it still twice more expensive; i'm too cartesian too think about cosmetics then).

Only joking. When I had my Griff we referred to the other one as the Chimp whilst they took the micky out of us going golfing and having medallions and chest wigs.
It is a Cerbera soft top basically looks wise and not much else has had the styling of the Peter Wheeler era TVR's. They were and still are all a thing of beauty.

Sorry my sens of humour is a bit rusty, and i see i missed some private jokes too It is a Cerbera soft top basically looks wise and not much else has had the styling of the Peter Wheeler era TVR's. They were and still are all a thing of beauty.
When designed, i believe the clay buck was split in half longitudinally. Mr Ravenscroft took 1 side and designed a forward thinking, modern (appeal to younger types) british sports car........we call the Griffith. Peter took the other half and was inspired by the Healey and cobra and sculpted the Chimaera. Whilst the Griffith came first, it was his design and his company so always going to see the light of day.
PW's main inspiration were the sports racers of the 1950s and early '60s - and the Chimaera arguably owes something to mid 1960s exotic GT convertibles too. The Mk1 grille is pure Aston Martin DB4-6 albeit upside down.
Add the Mk3 lights and the similarities to that golden age of sports car design become even stronger.
However, the genius of the design lies in the fact that it's not a retro design in se, the lines are entirely original rather than a pastiche of Olde Worlde design cues (i.e. the Wiesmann Roadster - Jaguar front married to a Big Healey tail end).
