Help with paint code
Discussion
I'm trying to order some touch up paint. I was under the impression it was cobalt blue (porsche colour) but some googling shows a different colour to my car.
The service book says P147 and the info under the bonnet says P420.
This is a picture of the actual car, anybody got any idea what it actually is?

Just found this
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=44...
4th line down has a link and looks a lot like mine. Maybe it is cobalt blue?
Also found
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
where it states "P422-8RG3B is the ici code, p147 is the manufactures code." Can anybody coroborate this?
Also found in another thread "p420 - 8870 - cobalt blue, ici code 8RG3B, i am not sure who,s colour it is though.
rm paint code for this colour is R2842." these codes don't make much sense to me, can anybody clarify?

P420 brings nothing up on paint system
420 comes up as a Lada colour Baltic Blue
P147 comes up as TVR Cobalt Blue
147 brings nothing up
And I've just punched 8870 into my paint mixing system and that also brings up TVR Cobalt blue420 comes up as a Lada colour Baltic Blue
P147 comes up as TVR Cobalt Blue
147 brings nothing up
So both numbers on the plate P147 and 8870 = cobalt blue ……. which would lead me to believe that it's a pretty safe bet it's cobalt blue
Hi - TBH even with a paint code, you’d struggle to get a decent match.
Even if you got a perfect match based on the code, given the paint on the car will have aged by a degree, it wouldn’t necessarily be the best choice.
I found the best way was to take the car to a specialist with a spectrometer and get a bespoke mix.
Good luck
