Range Rover Temp Sender Thread Size?

We’re talking a few degrees
A few degrees more and we are experiencing fuel sloshing about the engine to cool it down again
I like my low 80’s running temps, hammer it for a few minutes it will be warm alright! It’s only in winter we experience cool engines and not many owners use them then.
They are summer cars after all

Narrower on the rear, softer rubber at low temperatures and I live in Lancashire and if it continues raining like this , I'll put them on next week You don’t reside in Norway do you

I fitted one of these today and the gauge does seem to be very responsive. I did get some water out and seemed to have created an airlock on the heater as the fans kick in and out, with the gauge doing the right things but no heat from the heater!
Was the water fully cooled down when removing old sender Graham! All I can think is as pressure drops the water that came out will now be an airgap.
Mine was stone cold and water sat at bottom of thread in manifold so totally full and none came out.
It was a simple case of removal and replacement.

Hi Al, it was cold but I thought it was below the level of the heater? I would have bled the air out but we are having some biblical rain here at the moment! All I can think is as pressure drops the water that came out will now be an airgap.

Hi Graham, really glad you’ve kept your Tiv mate Hmmm.
Stone cold the water in mine didn’t budge so heater must be below this point. I always assumed where this sender fits was the highest point anyway but that’s just a guess.
I did mine on my drive which is slightly inclined with rear of car lower than the front but it’s hardly a hill.
I had airlock issues due to a faulty swirl pot bung awhile back,
I’ve got a little adapter that goes in the end of the bleed pipe on manifold onto another longer pipe and into my fill jug so immersed in water and constantly flowing into the jug, only when I did that did I get rid of the airlock.
Hopefully a drive or constant high revs on the drive might force any air out!

The system is all bled now and wished that I hadnt destroyed my funnel I adapted to do this as the only one I could buy locally is just a bit to small...
The heater is proper toasty and even with the roof and not the warmest day, it was to hot on full, so all good.
About that bleed hose, I was going to use that but not sure if that was sensible thing to do with the engine hot?
I ordered my sender on Thursday it was dispatched Monday & arrived Wednesday. Fitted yesterday. Due to pressure in the system i lost a bit of water.
Now the fun bit. I had to remove the dizzy to fit so hats off to all with the correct tool.
Fired up & onto the drive, checked for leaks & checked the gauge. Fans on at 92 deg.
I have had rover gauge for some time but never used it. Plugged in & nothing. Before i could check the port the sky went black.
Reverse back into the garage & the heavens opened & the power went off.
So far so good, i will have a run & check when it dries up a bit.
I did get 2 senders, so if anyone needs one PM me.

The amazing thing is that this same Daz fitted my new boiler a couple of years ago and made a lovely job of it. Clearly I caught him just before the Alzheimer’s kicked in.......
Though I am proud to say i did manage to spend an hour flat on my back this morning, with my Mrs just above me helping......(stop sniggering at the back )........I actually managed to change two bath taps without leaks or having to call Daz out. Almost proud of myself.
As those of you who know me are aware, I am to things engineering what you lot are to matters accounting, so this is a minor victory. Not that I could get up off the floor afterwards.
