Odd situation yesterday where after about 10 mins into the journey it looked like the large speedo hand had disappeared!
After a couple of seconds I found it moving about at the bottom of the display. Car was on the motorway at the time.
Sometimes the hand would also sweep around at random, so it hadn’t simply fallen off. hehe
The digital speedo was still accurate however.

Then a little later the digital display started getting erratic too, with the odd 3 figure display.

On the return journey, again everything started out as normal but again, a few min in the analogue hand started wandering around at random but this time the digital stayed ok.

Anyone come across this behaviour, or any thoughts?

That’ll be the speed sensor on the diff. Can sometimes be salvaged with a good clean up but more often than not needs replacing. I’ve been through 3 of these in my ownership.

Thanks for the info.
That doesn’t sound too bad.
I really wasn’t fancying having problems at the speedo end.

Make that 4! Speed sensor started playing up this morning. What are the odds!

Looks like they are consumables. hehe

I’ve found a comprehensive description of the job from way back in the PH golden era, for anyone who’s interested ...

Being lazy I might try a blast of WD40 first.
