Hi,

I have a last problem with the thermostat (stuck open) that only show up in winter: the oil is very cold (60c) and dont go any further.
In summer i dont even find it is long to get hot and the temperature stay at 70-85c so i dont think its in this conditions a problem (no?)...In winter, i first only add some cardboard to restrict the air flow but i want to fix it.

I have a pas car and find the location of the thermostat not very accessibIe. I also saw that the new thermostat was not easy to get in the perfect position. I find out in the internet that in cars with hard to acces thermostat, you can place the thermostat directly in one the coolant hoses (by placing it at the extremity of the hose or cutting it)...

What please do you think of this idea? I think i should get a thermostat the exact diameter of the hose? So it would not be a tvr thermostat but an others car one...is there some big difference between cars concerning flow on each thermostat or can i any of them with a close enough operation temperature?

Thank again to the community i fixed my pas and many other stuff thanks to your anterior writings.

The video was about adapting a conventional thermostat but from what i can see there is special thermostat shaped to fit in hoses or what they call inline thermostat...

A thermostat is not something you are going to replace very often so my advice would be to accept the poor access and do the job properly replacing the existing thermostat with the correct item.

A thermostat fitted in the hose will probably cause more problems than staying with your broken one.

Cardboard will work but you have to be very careful watching the temperature gauge. The gauge is not very reliable which could cause you problems.
Get a new stat fitted as soon as you can.
