I am looking to hard wire the Ctek charger in to the Tuscan as the cigarette lighter has been temperamental recently. So I have the battery terminal connection which can be run internally rather than just off the battery. The positive is taken from the 80 Amp fuse in the passenger footwell, but where does the negative go?

I can see the massive earth in the passenger footwell but the bolt is far too big. I was told to take the earth from the door control until but I can only see a pin connector and not an easy earth there.

Has anyone done this before and can provide an insight please?

Thanks

May not be what you're looking for but I have run the leads from the battery and positioned the connector on the radiator fan support so all I have to do is pop the service bonnet, as my CTEK is plugged in just in front of where the car is in the garage it makes connecting it a 5 second job

Assuming the Tuscan is the same as tamora and sag removal of lighter socket is straight forward. Hardwire the charger to the lighter cables ifyswim

Just get a replacement ring crimp the correct size for the earth stud in the bulkhead by the fuse. I then ran one of their extension cables through the sill into the boot area. Drive car into garage, open boot and plug in charger...

Yes I just wondered if there were any other earths in the footwell? They all seem to bundle up and then run to the same big terminal. I managed to find an earth with a multimeter on the nut which takes the allen key bolt which retains the under dash panel but didn't think it was wise to use that.

What about making an adaptor or just fitting an Anderson connector to your CTEK so you can just plug it in to the connector on your car.

The passenger door/window Ecu lived under that dash panel on my Mk 2 Tuscan, there is a 0 volts (earth) on the multi plug connector, maybe splice into here for a local connection, yours may be different of course, if not there it's possibly behind the carpet to the front of the passenger door, Good luck smile
