I changed the originals to Bilstein's on my Griff 500 back in 2013, largely because of the rattles they were making. I still have the old ones which I believe are of the Harvey Bailey variety as no Bilstein stickers or other makings on them. No regrets as they provide a vast improvement over the originals.

Yes they used to have noticeable valve knock, and the top eyes used to fret the threads. Back in the day we had to roll-pin the top eyes to stop them moving.

The Bilsteins are monotubes, Gaz are the bum basic twin tube design. In Germany you´d fail the TUV test with Gaz if the tester pays close attention, as it´s forbidden to change to dampers with a ´lower´ level of technology than what the OEM provided...
TIL, I was under the impression Gaz Golds were adjustable monotube. I'll go back to my ivory tower....

In fairness, Gaz does do a monotube damper (Gaz Monos) but they're closer to Nitron in price...

Probably the best £1000 you could ever spend on the car so well worth it in the long run.

They do indeed I run a full set and very happy over the NOS Bilsteins they replaced scratchchin but fitted with harder springs I doubt the ride would be to everyone's taste , I would always suggest to the average Joe get Billies fitted simple and OE reliable

Blackdownauto who is the expert in TVR Billies
Sorry, I mean springs as well. Blackdownauto charges over £900 for the set
The base price of £156 for the damper doesn't include bushes either... that's about another £27 per corner from memory.

Agree, shhh, don't tell them.
And did that include the spring lower seats and collets?
I think the Cerb springs are dearer than Chim ones though; I'm waiting on a reply with an all-in price from Ben.
