I also have the V8D 5.0 engine, similar to the spec you are being offered, mine was built in 2014, originally it was putting out 325 bhp, and since then I have supercharged it, now producing 474bhp, no issues in all that time

Small update on thoughts. i have changed my mind on doing the 5.0 V8D engine. i think if i had anything other that a 500 chim it would be a no brainer. However i don't really like the idea of losing that grunt motor boat long stroke engine along with the cars engine code. It may not be perfect but its the heart of the car.
i flushed through the oil with some snake oil additives, filter change, went back to 10-40 semi oil that Powers reccomend with their rebuild and although the ticking is still there on idle i cannot hear it when i am driving and the engine feels to be running much better.

I think after reading this thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I will first look at having the tvr 5.0 rebuilt properly to see if they can do what ever possible to minimise TVRs f*ckup. Potentially take it out to a 5.2 , something joolz suggested as an option.

If only the 5.5 cranks were available as i think that's the only upgrade I would do involving a change of engine number.
