Jumbo poll! - Does your Chim have Elephant Ears??

My '98 hasen't got any. Are these factory fitted or supplied in any way or are they just an idea that someone has come up with?

I have one on the passenger side and one in the rear foot well that should be on the drivers side.

Always wondered how they fitted.

I think the one on the passenger side is upside down some how?

None on mine (1994 4.0l) but could have been torn off. Must make some as roof has had 3 coats of Thompsons and pssgr side still leaks & causes wet floor behind seat. Have finally sorted the leak into the boot though, yippee!

Mine had half an ear which fell off. Wondered what it was: until now I didn't even know it was an ear, as it was just the square bit remaining. And from being bone dry it's now developed a small leak. So maybe it needs 'em.

I suspect these come in useful if you don't tension the hood properly. My technique is to put the hood up but not lock the stays, tension and velcro down the sides, then pop the stays over centre. This gives added tension to the sides of the hood and I'm convinced prevents any leaks.

I don't even recall my 500 having ears from new. Maybe they fell off during the PDI!

Top tip! I don't have to leave mine outside in the rain anymore, but it I do I'll remember this. OH

I have one just hanging on the passengers side and two new ones (courtesey of Big Al) sitting in my garage for about 18mnths. Must get round to doing this one day.

Oh, and no leaks as it doesn't go out in the rain.
