Mine doesn't either - see my recent posts re leaks in cockpit. Solved by replacing the trim up over the hood and leaving aboout 2" more than before extending into door gaps. Dry cockpit now and no elephant ears.

None on my 98 - and dry thankfully. Are they all after market additions or did the factory fit on some but not all?

'99 450. Ear positive.
Used to leak but since replacing the ears and treating the hood its been dry as a bone whatever the weather. Incidentally my ears seal a bit differently to those on Big Als pics and aren't visible from outside.

1998 and no ears.

However I think I may know the reason for this, and it is because the roof at this point on the later models has a slightly different design to the earlier models (i.e. ones which have the manual door opener, not the button under wing mirror).

Have often wondered about this elephant ear debate and spotted the difference from a thread on here the other day and checked mine when I got home.

The early models seems to have the bottom corner cut off at an angle leaving the elephant ear exposed to deflect the water (hence it may leak if these have corroded and fallen off). However the roof design on the later models seems to take this into account and covers this area, hence no need for elephant ears.

Mine doesn't, but doesn't leak unless I hit it with the hose right there. Sounds like a good idea, thanks for the info!
