Every day car for the last 2 years, except the motorbike for sunny/dry commuting, excellent car, you come out of work, it's sunny,(or at least dry) drop the top, you're away. Even sitting in a traffic q feels good. Pretty damn reliable too (oh bu66er thats torn it).

Hut49,
thanks for the info.
Mainly needed for the drivers window seal, as the window tries to rip it away from the door when closing.
Tried a smear a grease and this worked well, except that after winding down window and then up again, I had a beautifully thin screen of grease up the window - preventing its main function of allowing the driver to see out of his vehicle....dow!

ok guys, so I may not have THE answer here, but it's some kind of an answer & it works for me... I use the tiv both as an everyday car AND as a second car but am pretty strict with myself about which one's on the drive ready to go & which one's in the garage. So I'll have the tiv as my only transport for, say, 2 months (unless there's a 4-seats-required real emergency) then put it in the garage for a period of self-servicing / fettling / polishing / stepper motor cleaning etc etc for a couple of weeks, often on 4 axle stands coz then it's too much hassle to take it off them for a spin round the block!!). This means my car's always in A1 condition, has some miles kept off it (down to say 10,000 a year...) and I appreciate it more after a wee lay-up. So - have both: an everyday tiv AND a second car!! but not at the same time

ps anyone else out there currently hammeriting their front wishbones - gawd wot a job - now have intimate knowledge of every crevice in garage floor... second coat tonite wot larks... NOT ...

had my 4L since april/march. no big deal for my commute which is about 54 miles round trip, including a crawl for 10/15 mins, and some dual carriageway before and after the crawl.
had a few probs ( oil sensor, otter switch, fan fuse ) on my old '95 but most of it's issues have been sorted due to the miles done ( 50k ). i don't see much difference between my car and those at the dealer for another 8k, except that some of the newness has worn off ( stone chips ), and any issues have been already sorted by the previous owners ( ta! ).
enjoyed (?) 1/2 inch of snow this morning - some browntrousering but escaped unscathed.
my only vehicle.

buy it and drive it!
