I'm not saying that fully mapped systems like DTA don't work but IMO not worth the all the effort of fitting & mapping on a standard TVR.

absolutely agree! Just had an email from dave walker of emerald in which he suggests as the best option to fit a Vauxhall 60-2 toothed wheel to the crankshaft to act as the speed sensor and the air meter then becomes redundant. The throttle pot is used for load sensing.
Seems a pricy operation.

get rid of the a/c and p/s, both are crap and zap power, there is a very noticeable difference between a standard 4litre and 500.

as for a SC4 litre against a good 500, I haven't got a clue but have heard on the grapevine a good standard 500 is still quicker.

From what i hear from a guy I know and trust is that Mr Hamish's (bluebottle) SC520 is proper fking quick.

I think you would soon get used to the power of a SC400 or 500 and would soon want more so why not go the full hog now.

Can't you get a rebuilt TVRPower 500 engine shipped over (tell em you will probably want to SC it in the future), probably same cost as the SC kit for the 4 litre, then whack the SC on the 500 when it becomes to slow for you.

TVRPower do a 4 litre upgrade to 500 spec for about £5k, though it seems a shame to do that to a good low mileage 4 litre engine, I would wait for it to go bang before I did that.

you can pick up a good second hand 500 engine for about £3k, but I would want to see and hear it running in car before buying.

not sure what a 4 litre engine is worth, sorry.

i think my plan is to supercharge the 400 and see what it can do.if not enough i ll sell the kit and upgrade to a 4.6 or 5 litres it should be possible toship it here without too much trouble.was also thinking an LS1 cause checked a few on ebay and its really cheap.no sure how it is to swap it but the mechanics here are pretty good at this.but i am pretty sure a sc400+some extra mods will be just nice looking at 300hp per ton

End of the day it doesnt matter how quick your car is/isnt you always get used to the speed of the car..If you had a 4L then changed to a 5L you would tell the differance straight away, but after time you always get used to the engine and it wouldnt seem as quick as when you first drove her, then you'd want more againwhistle
