Stig - is your current roof beyond salvage? It can be retrimmed for about £100 in the original mohair. How about an advert in sprint??

I second that, I need the rear end of the hood (Targa part), went to my local deal (Mole Valley) and was told to expect a replacement one to cost (wait for it)

Rear Quarter -- £695 ex vat
Hood Top -- £100 ex vat to retrim
Labour -- £450 ex vat

rip off's or what?

Labour is taking the P!55. It takes no more than half an hour to replace the hood, that's how long it took me to replace after I removed it to replace the velcro - the longest part was fiddling with one nut for about 15 minutes. 2 bolts secure where it pivots and 3 screws at the back - £450, rip off Bar Stools!

I have been considering having the whole hood retrimmed. A phone call to the factory revealed that the rear hood - to completely replace with new - was about £600 all in. Anything more is a rip off.

Before I sold my 'S' I had a completely new roof, ie panels and rear section, made and fitted for £450. Can't imagine it would be any more for my Chim.

Trimmers/upholsterers aren't cheap.

About a foot of stitiching has come out from my back window I tried to stich it in myself yesterday but after sewing my finger to the roof I decided it would be less bloody to get a professional to do it. Phoned a couple of trimmers up, one said they knew the job as they do it often for a local dealer, £240 +vat. So I've invested in a thimble....

On the subject of roofs - does anyone know where I can get a pair of alloy support struts for my S3. The original pressed steel ones are bandier than my grandma and have started to chew the window when folded - the struts not gran.

Last time I asked (several years ago) the alloy struts were £60+ each from TVR. I got a pair cheap (slightly scratched) in a sale at the factory. If you do get some, they're slightly longer than the steel ones, so you'll need to make another hole in the bulkhead below the existing one.

Hi,

OK I gave Wedge Automotive a call (been thinking of getting this done myself) and the £399 was only for the back part.......... they do, do a full replacment at £549 but they need to fit it (fitting is included). Something to do with it being fitted under tension and they just end up getting sent back by cutomers. They can arrange for the car to be picked up (they are in sheffield)and to phone for cost.

Cheers

Chris
