That's me! biggrin
I have ludicrously thin Gibbon like arms. Can't throw a ball for toffee but found dismantling a TVR door a doddle (makes up for years of bullying during school PE!)

I was thinking of offering a mobile door card removal service

4th nut not needed. Three wing nuts do the job plus the single posidrive lower back corner on the reflector. Have thrown away my nuts '!!!!!!!! Smiles.

Well another guy that looks like he's tried to saw his arm off with glass fibre....
Just rebuilt the driver's door, and found that the curvature of the door runners is tighter than the glass.

No wonder the windows bind in the runners...

Anybody else here got runners that don't match the windows?

What exactly is supposed the hold the window in the correct place when the window is up?
The window is located fully in the front runner but only about an inch or so on the rear runner.

The winder mechanism slider on mine is quite loose so the window can wobble about quite a bit (front to back wise)
Does that mean that the slider mechanism is worn out?

Don't really want to take the door apart againweepinggrumpy

There are two nuts holding the window to the runner. and also a nut at the top and bottom holding the runner in. Make sure these are done up. If they are then it sounds like either the slider needs adjusting to push the window to the front runner, or your slider is worn.

I had to adjust the window on my passenger side. Took me about a day to do before I was happy! (I am a fussy bugger though).

Either way you will need to remove the door panel again. Sorry. frown

I had my door apart this weekend and found the same. The window can be tipper back and forwards slightly when in the lowered position and causes the window to jam at it's lowest position. Checked runners and all are secure. The window is also secure in the metal holding strip.
The slack is between the drive rail and the slider.
I was also wondering if this slack is normal or if one if these parts is worn.

Cheers, Matt

Yup, all bolts tightened and the slider mechanism pushed all the way forward. I think that there is too much slack in the slider, as Ads says, it's probably worn out.

I did find the height adjuster though clap, now I don't have a gap between the window and the roof. There was a 3 mm gap at the front, guess the door has drooped....

Next year's job...

Besides, my newly veneered dash arrives tomorrow so I'd rather sort the electrics and rebuild the dash then stick my arm back into the hole of GRP doom.

My drivers side door and passenger sides are different. Spent ages trying to reach the 4th nut on the passenger side only to find out there wasn't one. 3 bolts passenger side and 4 for drivers side. Always a pleasure working on the car smile

Hi I have a tvr chimera 4.0, 1996.
Window. Driver side is dead. I wiggled the cables, hit the motor with a hammer no joy.

Does anybody know if I can get the motor out without taking off the door panel. I can't reach the last nut so reluctant to do.

Does anybody have the driver side part number for this ?

Many thanks for your help

When the window is down it is mission impossible to get the last nut I pulled the door panel out and went down from the top, couldn't get it through speaker hole, and couldn't get all the bolts out to remove window or motor to try and lift window out of the way

Mine used to die occasionally. There is a plug behind the door speaker thats worth looking at. Its been a while so this is from memory (and the car is away being serviced right now) but IIRC its a black 2 prong thing the just plugs in to something - the motor maybe ? Anyway Mine needed pulling off, cleaning up and the prongs bending out slightly to make a good contact.

Worth a try.

I sorted my mates dead windows out just before we set out for the Le Mans Classic by removing the centre console/arm rest where I found & rectified a bad connection at the multi plug connector that lurks beneath.

Is it poor wiring that causes the slow window problem? My passenger window is fine, but the drivers window is slow. Lubricated the necessary parts, but not made much difference. I was wondering if a larger live feed to the motor may help and how this would be wired?
