I am looking to replace and uprate the shocks and springs on my 93 4ltr chimaera and was wondering if anyone out there knows the technical specs I require (before I have to take the car to bits)
I am looking for the following dimensions/rates for both front and rear sets:
Open Length of Shocks and Springs
Closed length of Shocks (and if bumpstops are required/best left out)
Recommended spring rates for front and back.
A bit of background behind this is that I began competing in the Scottish Sprint championship last year with the standard car, I won best overall newcomer and am now completely hooked, so new bits here we come!!
Any info/advice on the above or indeed 'off the shelf' gear would be much appreciated.
Yours hopefully!!

Peninsula can supply the Nitrons, I got mine from there.

They are very good, apparently - though I haven't fitted mine yet. They look tasty though!

Thanks for the info,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with AVO shocks as these seemed to be a good compromise between cheap stuff and Nitron?

There's also an Ohlins setup mentioned in the Griff notes on this site. Anyone know how this fairs against the nitrons setup - aside from the fact it a good deal more expensive?

Thanks,

Steve

AVOs seem to work well on Wedges but not so well with other lighter cars. I have used AVOs on the 520 for around the last 4-5 years but I have switched to GAZ shocks that are fully ride height adjustable using standard size springs this year. Well actually they were custom made for the car by Tower View (www.t-v-r-services.co.uk). They have sets that fit virtually all the TVRs and can supply uprated spring/shock combinations. Prices are below half that of Nitrons. Initial feedback has been very good which is another reason why I considered the swap. Considered Nitrons but felt nervous after seeing several Tasmin racers break them and finding out the costs!
