Thanks Hobbit, I really appreciate that comment and pics of our workmanship. It has been hard to get clients to take and send us pics, as we are solely restorers of the woodwork and very rarely get to see our work witnin the vehicles, this is why it took us two and a half years to build our website and still have no tab for TVR. We have also produced a number of carbon facia's but as to date no pics. I thank you and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!! while the sun shines
Regards Malc

No worries. I'll take a couple more with the roof down at some point so that the whole thing is visible.....

Brilliant! I called LCC this morning and was a little shocked at the cost. However, having now read this I think it's probably best to pay for good quality workmanship. I don't want another cracked dash in 7 years time...

Holy thread resurrection!...ok, so whats the price for a re-venier now (7 yrs on)?

I need mine done as well, as the last lot of mongrels i let loose on my car fubar'd the dash and stuck the pieces back on with superglue...i only discovered this when i went to remove the dash to repair an electrical fault frown

About £360 when I spoke to him yesterday, for both bits.

At the Classic Car show in Birmingham I saw the Classical Dash stand where they had many examples of their excellent work. Their prices (last year) were cheaper than London Carriage Craft. Also you didn't have to strip the brackets off the back (not sure if Chim has brackets like a Griff), whereas LCC you do. Presumably this means that LCC use a clamping press and CD don't. Don't know whether or not this is a good or bad thing. Haven't used either firm yet but very tempted by Classical Dash in High Wycombe.

Am very interested in these prices but can someone confirm what the LCC price is for removal; re-veneering and replacing of a Chim dash ? Is this £160 just for re-veneer ?
My other problem is one of location. Assuming LCC is located in London (can't determine this from website) I will have a distance problem as I'm located in rural Northumberland.
Whilst I don't doubt the quality of LCC work is anyone aware of any similar firms closer to Newcastle upon Tyne ?

LCC have an (0208) telephone code which is for the London area.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the price charged by LCC is just for the re-veneer. Again, there is nothing on their site (that I could find anyway) to verify this. You have to remove and re-fit the dash yourself unless you pay a local garage to do this for you, adding to the cost. From the experience of re-veneering myself, removing the dash constituted most of the hard work, in a Griff anyway. wink

I got a pretty good dash second hand but still has some cracks and lifting venieer. Spoke to a local cabinet maker/french polisher who says he should be able to refurb at a resonable price.

Should be taking up to him later this week, will post up the quote when I get it
