Loose door mirror - ??? Help please!
Discussion
I tried to get the torx screw out but could not do it. In the end I removed the mirrors by tapping the boss round using a parallel punch. Lots of gentle taps and it started moving. There are little slots in the boss that the punch can locate in. You just have to screw the grub screw in and screw the boss in then lock it with a few taps again. Tape up the surrounding area with a couple of layers of masking tape to protect the paintwork.

Thank you. That was very helpful. Turns out, my grub screw was tightly secured so removing the mirror was just a case of rotating the entire mirror. Frustratingly, it's the hexagonal mounting nut in the door that has come lose. Looks like a job for the epoxy resin.phillpot said:

That hex part is installed in the mould before the door fibreglass is layed up. To repair you will either have to dig it out and re-bond it (not a good plan) or drill some blind holes in the GF alongside the hex fitting and inject some thin resin into them so the resin is forced around the fracture line.Steve
