Amazing! I don't think I'm man enough to drive that. SWB and a V8. Must be hilarious in the wet. biggrin

It goes on...It appears that I have narrowly avoided a scam "buyer". The bankers draft went into my account but then failed to clear, so the amount went out of my account.....I have not paid for the "transport" to the buyer. The original cheque was for more than the sale price so the transport could be paid for...... and I still have the car. So no loss to me.
I still have to wonder why the amount showed balance on screen, when the clearance was obviously not completed?
Standard banker's draft scam. Surprised people do it still. It shows because it's a banker's draft but then it's found out to be a fake draft so the banks undo everything. Except the victim's payments/sending away of stuff. I trust you informed the police?

Thats a great car FlyingPhil.

I built a 5l Rovertec MGB a few years ago.
It was a £200 Ebay purchase that once delivered was found to be very solid.
It was a rubber bumper car that I converted to steel.
I fitted a 2.0 Oselli engine but to me it was a bit slow.

So I purchased a modified and abandoned Rover SD1 for £500.
That had a modified bored V5, uprated 5 speed LT, Quaife LSD and Aston Martin Calipers.
It all went in the MGB along with a new radiator, Edlebrock and Image International Halibrand reps.
It went very well.

The problem I had was that it wanted to swap ends all the time. You had to be really careful in the bends as it would just break away under throttle.
Ended up selling it to a gent in Germany, who flew over and drove it home!

Thanks Hoofy and BuyaDuster. I also had a BGT V8 but just for drag racing in the Pro Rover class.

A rare bit of good news!
For many years I have just had one key for the ignition, and no key to unlock the petrol cap ( I had to remove that end section of the filler pipe to refuel the car...). This was because I could not find my regular set of keys. I thought that I really would need to get a spare or two, keys cut and get the locked petrol cap off/replaced.
However I had one final look in the old writing desk (full of cards, envelopes...and a box of old keys) - yes - my old car keys were there!
The car still doesn't start though

I have now taken the dashboard out totally plus the steering column and indicator switch. This was after the left hand indicator lamp came on with the ignition on, the rear lamps working with the lighting switch -then not, the fuses going live with the ignition, then not...Grrrr. Of course the main problem is the 50 year old loom and components which have not been used properly for about 25 years. So far I have found a broken wire to the ignition/alternator lamp and a disconnected wire to the stop light switch.

all progress - amazes me just how simple the wiring on cars used to be
