I have a 12/78 BGT which is undergoing a total transformation - EFI Rover V8 and coil over front and rear (to give you a flavour).

My research shows that the steering column in this car BHH1856 and that used in the RV8 (apart from some internal changes) are very similar except the RV8's column, upwards of the top body mounting bracket, was a new design. A different bearing is mounted in a shortened outer tube and a cap fitted and welded on. This strengthens the outer tube and provides the mounting for the switch pack. I'm trying to find pictures of this difference as I would like to modify my GT's column so I can not only fit the RV8's switch pack (indicator/light & wash wipe) but also change my stalk operated horn to the RV8's centre push.

I'm having great difficulty finding anything about the RV8 column ZKC5706 so if you have any clues????
