Hi everyone, i'm french (so sorry for my english) and i'm a new prosport driver.
I take part on Hill climbing race in West of France.

The car is a 2000 prosport with an 1300 powertec hayabusa

I've some questions...

I've some trouble with the starter motor, 2 starter motor broke in 5 race !!!
Each time all the cogs of the starter sprocket are broken.
The first time is due to a "flip" with the car (we told me that is a disease of that car)
but the second time i cant no why...
What is the right battery capacity for this motor?
When the battery is low, can it induces the brakage of the starter motor?
Is there a problem to start the car while moving with a gear engaged (so whitout use the starter motor)

I'expect i'm understandable enough.

Hi, what you damage when starting the car with a low batter is the starter clutch, not the starter motor.

No clue about your other questions. However, I know jump starting an SR3 is bad, but it is a complete different animal as it has the Quaiffe GDU

Good luck!!

Clutch in if you spin to avoid damage and there are two versions of starter motor for the 'busa - Blue label = short shaft and green label = long shaft. Make sure you're using the correct one for your engine.

Confusingly mine's got a black label which I can't find any information on!

Also I use an Odyssey PC680 battery which has been fine for me, if you're worried then jump it from another battery when cold.

Hope this helps,

Dunc.

Dunc,

The black label is the same as the dark blue - gen 2 long nose

There is a light blue which is short nose from early gen 1

That spline certainly looks to have a short amount of engagement in comparison with the length of it.

First picture looks like long nose and second short nose?

Also with that amount of damage I would be checking the top gear the starter drives in case it has damaged teeth.
