I've just got back from the piston head Sunday service at Silverstone.
In the first session of cars on the track there was a V8s coupe. As it came past the pit wall the sound on overrun was amazing, both my son and I was stood there waiting for it to come past as we really keen to hear what it sounded like.
We then went and sat further around the track to listen to it on heavy throttle and again it sounded awesome, my son's description I think was the best he said it sounded like a Spitfire flying past - now I'm convinced that the v8 has got to be the one I'm going for when I finally make the decision to change my Aston Martin roadster to an F type. I would be perfectly happy with an earlier V8s rather than the V8r.

Now all I need to do is find somewhere I can try one on test drive when the weather picks up a bit.
Glad you liked it smile [V8 R btw]

Sorry, I have in fact realised it was an R when I started looking through some of the pictures that I saw were posted on another part of the forum.

Just out of interest, I'm assuming you haven't got any sort of modifications to the exhaust, can I also assumed that it is the switchable exhaust on the R - and that you have the switch fully open?

Beautiful car in a lovely colour - but for me the yellow calipers spoil it. I'd have to repaint them black.

Perfect, thank you, it just sounded absolutely stunning. thanks for bringing it along.

Just a quick question in relation to dynamic mode - does not have any effect on the exhaust, or is it more in relation to the performance/handling?

The F-TYPE R has Configurable Dynamics which are activated when in Dynamic mode

you can toggle the following between Normal and Dynamic

Steering
Suspension
Gearbox
Engine

The engine in Dynamic applies a sharper throttle mapping but also tells the car to dump a copious amount of fuel into the exhaust off throttle so as for it pop and bang like Guy Fawkes night !

Hi

I tested a V6S and a V8 and bought the V8..... The sound is really good (for a while) however handling is a bit mad even with the traction control on the rear sometimes steps out slightly.

I bought OV13 ASU (now gone) wonder where it is now.

I can tell you where it is Peter- in Chorley!! Just purchased and driven from Grimsby today - did a search on the reg out of curiousity and came across your post. Bought from a guy who bought from Spire Jaguar in Watford only 3 months ago but was purchasing a BMW I8. Previous owner is shown as a Lady from Filey . 35k miles at the mo.

Small point but there is no V8S coupe. The V8S was the vert (488hp), the first coupes for 2014 were the V8R (542hp). Later (early 2016 I think) Jaguar aligned them and both are available as V8R with 542hp. V8S now no longer sold, S means it's a V6.

Yes the V8s are holding up well considering. They seem to start around 44K GBP for 30Kmiles examples so your trade in will be around 38-42K so you will only have lost around 10K GBP in the year assuming 10Kmiles per annum. Pretty good for a new V8.

He doesn't understand that you own (have owned) both a V8R and a V8S so believe you are confusing the two.

Hi Guys

Just bought a used V6S Convertible from a specialist in Yorkshire. 20k on the clock, 13 plate auto. Some nice extras but not loaded quite as heavilly as I like.

Traded in a 3 year old i8 had for 18months and thought it time for a change. Got a V8 (Merc) in my "fleet" so wanted to try the V6. Yes, I did get a large wedge back....

Any areas of concern I should look for or any comments of this car for interest please? Being delivered next Wednesday 28th June '17.

Thanks guys and yes - I think they look great. The rear end slowly grew on me as I didn't like it at first. My favourite is the coupe but being a bit of a tart, I prefer the roof off. If I didn't have a V8 already (Merc CL V8 Twin Turbo) I would have gone for that version but the V6 will keep me entertained until arrival of the next car.

Car going in is my BMW i8. Had it for 18 months and bored now. Previous was a Porker 991 911 (coupe) and last but one Jaguar was a supercharged straight 6 XJR bought off the motor show stand when they first came out. Horrible thing I'm afraid. The traction control was like having your Mum sitting next to you when you went around a corner a tad fast and she slapped you to take your foot off the accelerator and push on the brake. Add to that the bonnet that constantly flapped around in front of you plus a host of other things, it soon got traded on.

After that a Jag XK8 (old shape) convertible - very nice and reliable but I felt that in my late thirties I was in it 30 years too early!

Current fleet consists of a new Mazda MX5 Mk4, Merc CL-500 W216, an i-Pace on order for 2018 & various other weird forms of transport.... smile

We will see. I am sure they will get filthy but my favourite pass time is cleaning my cars so no hardship. Car arriving this coming Wednesday, just in time for the Goodwood Moving Motorcar Show the following day.
