Hi,
You say you've managed to do 400 miles over 2 weeks with the new injectors - did it run well at all in that time, especially for a short time when you picked it up? If so, has this poor running gradually got worse or was it a sudden change? With an EML there should be a code stored - transient faults don't always get logged but after a certain number of cycles if the fault persists, then it is logged and the light comes on.
I wouldn't be suspicious of the ECU just yet, it's nearly always a sensor which causes over or under fuelling.
They should be able to diagnose this if the monkey on the tools knows how to read - but this JMD already has form as we know.

It's been a while, but i think i can give closure to this thread.

I picked up the car on the 2nd of June and finally i have a car that is once again magnificent.

As you know, the engine was replaced as was a full set of injectors.

The last set of issues that i had, meant that the JMD needed to speak to the Jaguar Tech department; apapparently these guys are the guru's and what they say goes.
Lots of testing was carried out by the JMD and they were communicating with the techs, and another new set of injectors and spark plugs were installed.

After some more road tests, it turns out that both fuel pumps needed to be replaced too.

All the dink marks down the side of the car were corrected and i even had a new R badge put on the back, due to the last one being broken by a cleaner.

The car seems quicker than before, it's also a lot more vocal with the pops and bangs on the down shift, which never really happened before. This happens a lot shifting down from 2nd to 1st biggrin

All in all I'm very happy to have her back.

I've covered over 500 miles since the start of this month, both quick motorway work, driving through the moorlands in the Peak District and the stop start stuff in London and she hasn't faulted once.

The one last issue that i need to fix is the tracking, she seems to pull to the left a bit. But hats off to the JMD manager, he has said that i need to pop him an email with the invoice and this will be covered too.

All i need after that is a stage 1 exhaust upgrade to match the stage 2 on the back from Spires and i think i'm set.

Glad to see closure on this - as someone who's had their own issues with Jag MDs it's good to see that you kept at them and got the right result in the end.

Enjoy the new lease of life on that 5.0! smile

I bet you're not on their Christmas card list! They probably can't even afford one! Great to hear it's all fixed.

I hate to say this but my advice would be to sell it quick while its running right. I drive an XFS and love it but your R has been butchered by half arsed mechanics and who knows what's next to crop up.

Its much more of a known and warrantied condition though now , rather have that than a totally unknown quantity myself

Earlier this year, i was very much in the mindset of selling it and maybe moving on to a slightly newer (facelift) XFR or XKR.

But as mentioned above, i know the history of this XFR now.
New engine, injectors, spark plugs, filters, fuel pumps.
I've also changed the e-diff on the back, all with a warranty. This would have been £xx, xxx if i had to do this myself.

Plus the paint work has been sorted and i can get the JMD to pay for the 4 wheel alignment.

All i need to do now is service the gearbox (at an indy specilist), refurbish the wheels, and install a stage 1 Spires mid section.
Later on a remap and she will be good for a few more years.

It took me nearly 3 months to find this XFR, so with all the work that's been done, i think i will stick with it for now smile

Glad to see that you got a resolution that you were happy with. The initial uncertainty must have been very worrying.

The JMD eventually seems to have gone "above and beyond" in their efforts to make amends. The sceptic in me can't help but wonder.....why

Thread resurrection - Just read this through with interest, how has the car been over the last couple of years?
