Having sold my M5 last year and subjecting my self to a 330d for a while I wanted a cheap ish fast ish sporty family friendly saloon.

I fell upon a 2009 xfsv8 at what must be a bargain price. These really do look amazing value compared to anything comparable from Merc or bmw.

So I took the plunge and bought it unseen and in driven.
So what should I expect ive had an old xjr (98) in the past and it was a nice thing in an old fashioned sort of way.

I'm collecting it tomorrow lunch time and I'm quite excited

I love those things. Real 'Q' cars. Especially cool with the "20" Volan wheels.

Good choice !

Would one of those fit in a single garage by any chance?!

So I'm home.

First impressions for some reason it feels massive and very very solid.

It's also so quiet it feels like your not moving. Even at full chat you have no concept of if your doing 50 or 150.

Averaged 25mpg on the 3 hour trip home so not bad.

It's got lots of toys to play with and the info system is much more user friendly then the M5 or e63.

This one has
Sat nav
Bluetooth
Heated and cooled seats
Blind spot warning
Reversing camera
Dab radio
And probably more.

The rear bumper has a little scuff and will need a paint as will the 20" rims but on the whole I'm very impressed.

Compared to the M5 or MAG it's a massive bargain and much more sutible

And to answer your question I don't think it will fit in a single garage.

Until quite recently I had an XF 5.0 V8 n/a, 385 BHP, bit of a sleeper too like the SV8. No trouble fitting it into a single garage; having retractable door mirrors helped. Once in, getting out of the car was a bit of an issue!

Good choice.
One other thing that I quite like is that it's a very left-field choice for a performance saloon.

Had mine for a year and like it a lot !
The only gripe is the exhaust noise which is too subtle ... that will be remedied soon as I bought a cheapo second hand exhaust on ebay...

That looks lovely, well done. I have a 2008 XKR with the same engine and drivetrain, if it came to it and I had to get something more practical I'd be going for one of these. Enjoy!

So on my first long trip we had the first problem.
CATS fault warning.

Turns out to be steering angle sensor so not too bad

If you ever want a few more horses, they can take quite a lot of tuning. I met someone who had his putting out 500bhp with just a remap and supercharger pulley swap. He was commuting 60 miles a day in it so I guess it must have been reliable.

Hoop, that looks fabulous. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? There are very few SV8s around so it's hard to get a clear view of the market value.

My x300 is absolutely shagged and definitely needs to be replaced before the end of the year where is bound to expensively fail the MOT. I'm trying to man-maths myself into an SV8 but it's tricky!
