Hello all.

Well. Its looking like I will trade the XKR in for an F type V8R very soon.

But before the deal is done and as I've not driven the F type yet.

How does the ride compare to the XKR? Hard/soft or the same as the XKR?

Cheers
Jon

Hello Jonathan☺
I enjoyed every mile of your 370z after I bought it but with great regret I had to move it on a few months ago after it was doing my back no good at all.think it was the lower back of seat digging in and a short under seat but we changed for a Pug RCZ R and the other is a Xk 4.2 with a sports zorst😙

I have an XKR and also bought an F Type but sold it after 6 months.

The Ftype gave me a bad back and affected the nerves in my legs! I found the inbuilt seat headrests to be too low too.

I much prefer the XKR.

Funnily enough I also have a 370z. The ride is hard but I have absolutely no problems at all driving it. I can drive it all day with no ill effects.

I think with sports cars a lot of it is very personal based upon body shape and size.

I’m 6ft 3ins and of medium build. 50+

Thanks for the info.

This is why I ask the question.

On a test drive, which can be a bit brief, you don't feel the full effects of a long drive.

Hoping to get more opinions on ride and seating.

I'm 6ft 1ins and medium build. Also 50 and a bit or two smile

I also have an F-Type R with the performance seats.
Longest I’ve been in it is about 1.5 hrs - an hour in and my legs were getting a bit tingly.

I’m 6’ 3” and long legged.
Enough room though.

Hi Paul.

Hope you are well.

Sorry to hear you had problems with the 370Z. I to found it a tad uncomfortable on a long journey. Could be seat problems.

Since the Z. I've had a 5.0 XK convertible and a XKR coupe. I was fortunate to find a very low mileage XKR coupe in white. Very comfortable. No leg problems here. I bought the XKR a year ago and as you know, I don't keep my vehicles long.

Been thinking about the F type V8 for a while. I've seen one at a Jag dealer which, if it stacks up I trade in the XKR this weekend.

I was hoping to get some feed back on the ride and seats arrangements in the F type.

Not in the market for a new vehicle before the weekend are you Paul lol.

Cheers
Jonathan

I have a V8S, my second, and am similar in stature/age to the Op. I find the seats and seating position very comfortable. I’ve also driven the hard tops and they are similarly comfortable. The ride is comfortable and can be hardened when selecting sport/dynamic when in the mood. The sound and performance though is immense. Drive a few.

Not the cars fault, just too old!

Fraid not, just bought the Jag,not sure if the F type is better looking but I suppose technically it's a leap ahead.
Don't know whether it's a GT or sports car.
A drive of one will determine.

Just put the deposit down on the F type. Going to see it this Sunday.

Using the XKR as part of the deal unless it sells before next week.

So how did you get on?

I went back to back V8R with XKR and while I ‘liked’ the F-Type, the XKR seemed much more suited to me.

I disliked the lack of seat pitch in F-Type and it’s show off nature, always needing to push the F-Type, whereas the XKR seems more grown up and classy and better looking!

Buy a newer XKR, at least they are depreciating slower than the F.

Collect it Friday.

I know what you are saying regarding the seat travel but it seems ok for me. We're it lacks in travel the car make up in holding you in the seat. It just feels more planted so more of a comfortable ride.

Congratulations! The F Type R is a fabulous car and I would buy one in an instant if the seats suited me.

Be careful with the tingly legs. Can be caused by the seat shape rubbing on a nerve.

I drove my F Type for 2 hours and when I arrived at my destination my legs were jelly and I couldn’t walk for an hour. I then drove home!

It’s been diagnosed as ‘Bucket Seat Syndrome”. Something that can effect people 50+ where the Seat shape agrevates a nerve on the butt bone. I’m a lot better since I sold the cause (F Type) but now over one year on I am still very sensitive to sports seats.

The brand new 2018 Ftype seats do seem a touch better for me. Not great but better.

Congrats. Is it AWD, think I would only go that way with an F. Pics please, after collection!

Blimey if you have bought the one from Marshalls, can’t believe they are sub-£50k now. thumbup

Whoa whoa whoa.....
50+?

FIFTY PLUS?

I’ll have you know I’m not quite 49 thank you very much.

Joking aside, I’ve come from a line of Exiges and never had an issue in those.
I did have a problem in my Boxster Spyder though, but they weren’t buckets.
