I've only had my XK for just over 3 week and have been loving it but yesterday evening was the first time I've had an issue with it and it is a strange one. Essentially what is happening is that when I put either indicator on the dash panel closes down, it does reboot almost immediately just as if starting the car is being started up. Having had a try with various scenarios it only happens above about 40mph, below that it works normally. After the first time it shuts down following an engine start the cruise control and ASL are not available, regardless of speed, and the trip computer freezes (changing it from Trip A to B sorts this out). I can set the cruise or ASL at any speed (within legal limits of course!!) provided the indicators haven't been used since start-up. I did just try having the indicator on and accelerating from rest and when it reached about 40 (I didn't notice the exact speed) the dash did the shut down thing.

I've check voltage and the battery is around 12.5 without the engine on and 14.7 with it running. No issues with starting although it has obviously had something connected to the terminals in the boot at some point as the terminal covers weren't in place.

Any ideas?

Try doing a complete reset of everything, take off the terminals and touch them together to discharge any residual voltage. Reconnect in the correct order and reset windows etc. I had an issue in my 2010 XK of the screen dying and only jag logo showing and this was suggested. It worked for me, worth a try? Ex 2010 XK owner.

Thanks for that suggestion, I was wondering about a hard reset but couldn't find out how to do it on this model. Might give it a try or I might just take it to the dealer and hope the warranty I got with the car (independent dealer) will cover any costs.

Tried it this evening and found that it must be indicator stalk related as it doesn't happen if I put the hazard lights on - makes me suspect a short or faulty connections in the stalk assembly but can't figure how that could be speed related.

I took the car to an independent Jag specialist on Friday for diagnostic. The main dealer wanted £160 for it and the warranty company wouldn't cover that so I thought I may as well try a lower cost alternative first.

They found one code - B1B33-64 Target identification transfer CAN Fault. Instrument cluster fault, race condition caused by closing door and pressing start button within small time window.

They cleared the code and reset to factory setting and said to see if it was ok. Unfortunately it isn't right, although it is a lot better. Without too much testing it seems to still do the same as I previously said but then if I stop and restart the engine it works normally, no strange dash action or wipers even at UK legal speed limits. I'll contact the garage again tomorrow and see what they say but it may be I do need to get my credit card out and visit the main dealer!
