Thanks for the heads up, good little article, confirms that my budget should get me what I want as long as the Tam sells of courseOp - I’ve run a couple of 4.5 remapped and decatted 400BHP Cerbera’s and driven a Tamora for a couple of days. I’ve also owned two V8S F-Types, having sold the last one a couple of weeks ago.
The V8S provides all the pops and bangs of a decatted Cerbera but with some modern safety aids and the ability to switch down the noise when required. To do this thought you MUST get one with the switchable exhaust. The sports and dynamic settings allow you change the ride and drive train from comfortable cruiser to an aggressive fun sports car to suit your mood and the roads. Compared to how basic the TVR is you will love how modern the Jag is in comparison.
Beware the different specs. Sports seats and switchable exhaust are a must. A flat bottomed sports steering wheel is a nice to have. Rear cameras are available but I never used mine. Just check the detailed spec.
Oh, and don’t buy the V6, you will always regret it

Thanks for the info, oddly enough I’ve enjoyed the Speed 6 more than the AJP V8 I had in the Cerb and it certainly pops and bangs more, but it’s clear that it needs to be a V8 Jag to get anything like the same levels of noise................probably makes me seem a bit shallow, but I guess 10 years of TVR ownership makes you become a bit obsessed with this sort of thingThe V8S provides all the pops and bangs of a decatted Cerbera but with some modern safety aids and the ability to switch down the noise when required. I still have my TVR, couldn’t imagine ever selling it. I went to a Jaguar event last week, there were all sorts of Jags there. Mostly classic but there were six F Types, four V6 one V8 and a 2ltr. Perhaps you should have been there to give your “expert” opinion and enlighten most of them to what a mistake they had made! Sorry to be sarcastic but at least you made me laugh. 😂😂The V8S provides all the pops and bangs of a decatted Cerbera but with some modern safety aids and the ability to switch down the noise when required. The op asked for advice and I provided an opinion which you decided was ‘expert’ and therefore offended you. I’m unsure why you responded as you did, but whatever floats your boat. For my fun car I went from a 5.0 Griff to a Morgan 3-Wheeler to a 3 litre F-Type convertible. Best sound: Tivver
Best fun: Morgan
Fastest: Tivver
Most reliable: Jag
Best handling: Jag
Best head turner: Morgan
Most practical: Jag
Anyhow, I missed the grunt of the Tivver so I got the Jag remapped and it’s now pretty awesome (in both performance and sound). I have some ‘sensible’ cars but honestly I tend to use the Jag as an everyday car. Think I’ll keep running it until it starts playing up and then I might well by an SVR.

In the interests of balance I found the V8 to be superior in every aspect and without any doubt quicker overall. I didn't buy either so no purchase justification here. Try both and make your own mind up but don't tell me the V6 is quicker - anywhere.
The V6 is quicker through corners because it is lighter.a8hex said:
Good grief! in a V8
I'm not sure I'd get that out of the XKR if I got out and pushed.
When I got over 30 I speculated that the fuel pumps must run slower at 50MPH than they do at tick over.
I have the V6 which is a wonderful machine and an aural delight, best I got on a recent 1.7k tour from Essex to Scotland was 33-34mpg... I'm not sure I'd get that out of the XKR if I got out and pushed.

I've filled up the tank in my R about 10 times since buying it.
28mpg is the best from a tank - from a long motorway drive.
18mpg was the worst.
21mpg average.
The XKR is similar, 21-22 average. Oh you can do a lot worse than 18 if you want If I get the car out of the garage, drive into town for some shopping and drive back it won't even make 10MPG. Lead boots cause it to plummet too 28mpg is the best from a tank - from a long motorway drive.

Drove the 6 and the 8 for about a week each. Lots of people seem to prefer the 6 which I understand but the V8 just sounded so damn good that I would have chosen it.
As a TVR owner, I’ll need the aural excitement so really hoping to get a V8, the Tam will be in the classifieds next week, so interested to see how long it takes to sell as there are a hell of a lot of TVRs for sale at presentcerb4.5lee said:
Wishing you all the best with the sale Bob.
Looking forward to seeing how things pan out for you, but I appreciate that it must be a big deal for you moving on from the TVR.
Hi Lee, keep an eye out for the advert, I think the closing paragraph will sum it up pretty well, hopefully it will reflect the love we have for these carsLooking forward to seeing how things pan out for you, but I appreciate that it must be a big deal for you moving on from the TVR.
