Hi all,

Just over a month ago I took ownership of a 2009 XF 3.0d Portfolio S. Love it so far, it's a league above the 2004 S60 that it replaced. It's done 65k, and seems to be in very good nick.

There are a couple of niggles cropping up, not a huge surprise with a car this complicated that's getting on a bit in years. For one of them I'm going to return to the dealer, but the others I'd like to run past an indie.

These are:-
1. OSR door lock doesn't lock but does unlock. Need to manually lock it from inside the car.
2. Clonking from NSF suspension when maneuvering at slow speeds (especially when going lock to lock)
3. Buzzing from near the gearbox, apparently it's the air quality sensor whose fan packs in and needs replacing.

I'm pretty sure I'll be told to politely jog on if I ask the supplying dealer to look at 2 and 3, so thinking of getting them to look at the door lock, but find a decent indie for the second and third.

Any thoughts on this plan? And, moreover, any suggestions of who I should ring?

Thanks,
Blueacid

Oh, forgot one point - one of the 'spoke' trims on one of the rear wheels has come off. Ordered a new one from ebay for the eye-watering and wallet withering sum of... oh, only £15? Success!
.. is fitting these relatively easy?

I've always used Elite Cars in south Manchester. They used to be just Jaguar specialists but now they're Range Rover too. I know they're good with the XF having sent a friend there.

You can just about manage it without taking the wheel off if you have a suitable tool. I use the handle from a one of those stubby screwdriver sets with replaceable bits to push the clips on - something like this...

Without a bit inserted the circle at the end is the perfect size to get purchase on the inside edge of the clips.

Oh, and if your replacement spoke trim came with black-coated mild steel clips chuck them away as they will rust in days and damage the paint on the wheel. If you weren't supplied with the proper stainless steel ones drop me a PM with your address and I'll send you a couple as I have dozens of them!

Hi there! Only just saw this; the spoke didn't come with any clips at all - that's really very generous of you!
I looked for a private message option, and it seems that you've disabled receiving emails. Is there any other way for me to drop you a line?

Thank you!
