Hi, I am looking at getting a new car and the current favourite is a 2013 F Type convertible 3.0 V6 S. The car is Polaris White with a nice spec as it was a launch car at my local dealer so comes with:

Performance seats
Seat memory pack
Parking pack
20 inch Tornado wheels in silver
Heated seats
Meridian sound system
switchable active sport exhaust
Key-less entry
Blind spot monitoring

It has only covered 14,000 miles and looks in good condition with the exception of the passenger side seat controls where the silver has worn away quite badly running the look of the interior.

The dealer is asking for £27,995, looking at the classified this looks to be a fair price but I am concerned about the seat controls as I will want to get them replaced. The dealer was unsure as to cost so I thought I would ask the PistonHeads community. Is this a known weakness and if so how easy is it to fix and what is it likely to cost?

Might be better calling a Jag dealer. Most on here would probably have been replaced under warranty.

I’d agree.

That sounds like a cracking price from a main dealer.
Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the seat controls as when you’re driving the car you will never see them.

I prefer the V6S to the V8 - it felt more of a sports car to me, could use more of the power for longer, and it sounds hilarious on the up shifts.

Considering the specification and mileage, that is an absolute bargain from a main dealer! Second hand F-Type prices are very sensitive to spec and mileage. The specification sounds good and includes all the usual options that buyers look for ... smile A flat-bottomed steering wheel is a nicety, and they're pretty expensive as a separate item!

I'd also recommend opting into a good warranty of some description. In general, the F-Type is a reliable car, but occasionally injectors, O2 sensors, catalytic converters and the mechanical limited slip diff can fail. My V6S is currently at JLR with a stuffed diff. It's being replaced under warranty, but according to the Service Adviser, it had a new diff approximately 2 years / 13,000 miles ago! It's a known weak point.

As for replacement seat controls, get in touch with www.brit-car.co.uk for an idea of cost. I cannot find the correct switch on their website, but other similar items are around the £100 mark.

I opted for the V6S over the V8. It's the best sounding V6 on the market, whereas the V8 isn't. I didn't need the additional performance and you can enjoy the soundtrack whilst going through the gears before hitting very illegal speeds! It's also considered to be the better balanced car. That said, the V8 has an electronically controlled differential that's not as prone to breaking! hehe
