I'm in the Tayside area so the closer the better!

Struggling to find any stand-out options nearby for anything more serious like timing belt replacement.

Not too close, but in case you don’t get anything better, I used to take my XKR to a specialist in Glasgow called Lormier & Findlay, used them for things like the timing chain tensioners etc.

Do you know if the timing belt is something McGregor's could do?

Forgive me, had it in my head I mentioned the car when I replied to that on my mobile.

It's a 2.7 diesel XJ.

Prestige Jaguar in Glasgow are good and have done some of the bigger jobs on my XJR like changing the tensioners etc.
Another upvote for Prestige Jaguar (but them I am biased because one of the partners there is an old school buddy of mine).

Another vote for Prestige Jaguar in Paisley here.

They look after an XFR, 2 Range Rovers and an Evoque for us and since starting to use them 3 years ago, don’t have a bad word to say about them. They’re very helpful, knowledgable and are more then fair with the pricing.

David.

I am keeping them in mind but they're the wrong side of Glasgow. Getting back would be a faff.

Phoned Pentland Perth for prices there as they have a good reputation and they've come back with-

£1214 to do 'timing belts front and rear and the water pump'.

Excluding the rear belt it'd be about £770. Timing belt alone would be £550 these days.

I take my wife's Merc and my XKR to Alastair Reid Garages in Perth. They have all the software and an ex Jag guy there. Very good.

I live in Tayside and I would avoid Pentland Jaguar Perth -Service manager is a rude ignorant slob and the sales manager runs him a close second
Haven't been to John Clark Jaguar Dundee -but given mine and other colleagues previous experience with John Clark Dundee BMW I would avoid

Is there much of a difference between the Perth and the Guildtown garages? I've seen some poor reviews of the Perth one online recently.

Wonder what's changed as Pentland Perth were well spoken of online in the past few years from what I can see.

Had my XFR in to Pentland today for a service and supercharger belt change, and they were spot on. I had to wait for the car and they've got a decent system for Covid segregation etc and looking after everyone. No tea or coffee but that's no surprise in the current climate.

No issues with the work or the service, the staff were all professional and friendly and the car was washed and sanitised once they were finished.

Second time I've used them and no complaints from me, sounds like doclip got a right pair with his experiences.

Looks like I'm going to Prestige out necessity now anyway.

Had a rear shock changed for the MOT and the car won't rise after trying everything but the Jaguar diagnostic software. So it'll be getting put on a truck and taken over and they can do the timing belt etc. while it's there.
