If you've got a car to trade or sell as part of the deal then the issue shouldn't really be there, as you'll get more for yours so the cost to change won't be too far away from where it was, I've been looking at F-types and they are priced at 4-5k more than I thought however my car is getting bids from WBAC for 3k more than I paid for it in March...so it's swings and roundabouts.

Redline have a nice sport 400 conv and a 380S coupe at the moment, but they look like V8 money to me but that's where the market is I guess.

A jag dealer has had the same v8 r RWD up for a month and the price has risen 2.5k. Still hasn’t sold. Patience will be key given the current price madness.

If you have no car to sell then yes perhaps, but this in for while and prices tend to get baked into markets and need big shocks to move and a 10% rise in pricing isn't a huge bubble.

A friend who runs a used car place sold an F-type last month a week later the customer changed his mind he took it back, put it up for 2k more sold it within a week, that's probably not the market per se, but neither is your example of the single V8 that hasn't sold, the issue is the replacement cost/availability the dealer is seeing, they will be happy to wait for the right buyer.

Nothing wrong in waiting but I wouldn't expect anything to change this side of 2021 as the factors driving the issue aren't going away IMHO.

Not sure if it’s the same car, but I looked at the one in York, gone up a couple of £k recently, it was an okay car, but 5 owners put me off a bit!

Yeah I am never convinced with a car having had five owners either though my mate Harry who owns a Porsche specialist assures me that for Porsches at least , its completely irrelevant and far from unusual . Another thing with these F types is the Spec , some pretty poor ones out there . I posted an example over on Jagchat , for example a V 8 R at Marshalls Peterborough without even a heated windscreen .

Admittedly I'm punching upwards if I ever afford one of these, but the spec would really not bother me.

As long as it worked and was a nice colour I'd forgive the lack of a heated windscreen!

Totally agree with this , its hard to understand people quibbling about paying what they see as an extra £2k on a £45k deal .

I am not part exchanging anything so in real terms the cars would cost me 4K more now than 3 ish months ago. I don’t want to take a 4K bath in 6 months (who knows the time frame I am speculating) when new cars are being pushed out as normal. I will be holding off as long as possible and monitoring prices. If it means I miss this summer then hey, not what I wanted but such is life.

Yep, reluctantly that’s where I’m at, they have definitely risen sharply since the turn of the year, I certainly recall a black V8 R convertible for sale at a garage called Titty Ho (insert child-like snigger smiley) and I’m sure it went as low as £38k before it sold

Yup, 15 plate awd cars were up at 40-41k. They are now 45-46k.

Yeah I can understand that and admire your philosophical outlook . I do wonder about them taking a bath though . Fingers crossed for you in any case .

I took the plunge a couple of days ago and placed a deposit on a 17 plate F-Type R.

It's the model when the AWD became standard and no longer optional.

I've only been looking over the past week, saw this come up at an attractive price from a main dealership and did the deal. It looked really nice and in great condition from the photos, I'm now just awaiting it being prepped and an extensive video being sent across before committing fully.

I've also purchased a 3 year service plan and extra 2 year warranty (3 year warranty in total) for peace of mind.

Never had a Jag before, more Porsche & BMW M cars but the F-Type looks a lot of car for the money.

Great news Mark , I have to say I never bothered with purchasing either Service Plans or extra Warranty and for a few reasons . The car has only covered around 5k miles , its a well known engine with few issues and Jaguar Main Dealers are in the main pretty crap in my experience . I went up to see my local Indy who I have dealt with for years and I shall stick it in there when the car becomes a year old . If I had bought a Porsche on the other hand I would do as you have done .

Thanks reddiesel

No doubt a good Indy will know more about these cars than your average Jag technician. With performance cars I've always tried to stick with main dealer servicing & warranty, I think it stands the car in a better position come selling/trading it in.

Thats a fair point Mark though not covering a great deal of mileage I often hold onto cars for many years so tend not to worry about resale . That said I recently PXd a Jaguar 4.2 X150 at Marshall Jaguar Cambridge , the car had covered 59,000 miles and I handed over a wodge of Indy Receipts , they were absolutely stunned . Another point you may not know is that some of these Indys have access to update the Official Jaguar Service Records which often saves you money and keeps the Official History intact . EE here in MK do this and only use Jaguar Parts .

Good to know thanks.

As mentioned I'm new to Jaguar and a lot to learn.

Browsing the Forecourt I came across this last night in Milton Keynes , it was starting to get dusky and obviously the place was closed so I cant vouch for the cars overall condition . I make it an early AWD version with the older Info Screen and I think White is a strange colour for an F Type , I am always wary of the chrome ( plastic ) window surrounds as in my experience they do discolour over time , my X150 went an awful chalky white like a Bathroom Scum effect . You are then left with the options of replace with more of the same tat at an extortionate price or wrap them instead .

Seem to be a lot of white ones; probably the only colour that I definitely wouldn't buy.

It’s a nice car but agree it would need black pack and is 10k over my budget.
