Everyone has an opinion and I am sure many will disagree with mine but personally I am surprised just how dated this XK150 RS GT looks ,its also relatively cheap when viewed against many other sporting Jaguars . Anyone have any experience of this Model ? I dont remember ever having seen one on the road . Is it an Investment or has it reached its " Top Money " already ?

One of the best looking Jags made IMO in facelift mode. The R-S is the top of the range. Does it look dated? No. But it’s a matter of opinion. I think everything post S3 and pre-XK/XF looks dated, other than the X308. X-Type and S-Type were bad fill-ins.

Fine for the track but you'd feel a bit of a tit going shopping in it.

They don’t look dated until you sit inside it. The ICE is very dated now

That surely will be the same with ALL modern cars as we move on?

Anything with a touch screen is going to get quickly outdated by a car with the latest touch screen etc

Not that it would bother me, as long as it continues to work as intended smile

I'm not sure that white does it any favours, particularly with all the non-white embellishments. I don't remember seeing many white X150s although now that that car is no longer available if follow the link it shows a normal XKR coupe in white, that one doesn't do it for me either.

And a complete anorak point getmecoat

One of those is an X150 and the other an XK150. (OK a gratuitous excuse to post the picture biggrin )

The XK150 is well out of date, it hasn't a got a teatray full of touchscreen icons stuck to the dashboard, no blue LEDs and you can't get Facebook on it. Absolute junk eh!

Oddly enough there's a white XKR coupe near me; I think it looks a bit 'Japanese drifter'.

Many of you boys will remember when a white Jaguar was always marked down by the Dealer when it came to PX time , you didn't want White and you didn't want Ambla Upholstery , manual XJs could also be difficult to move on .

A white one, like when the dealer rings you and offers a used poverty spec XJ6 with the larger engine, white, with a rear windscreen wiper and with an extra (& calibrated) speedo?
Later on of course white Jaguars became very popular, a friend used to have quite a few white Mk2s, they were usually very busy on Saturdays despite the back doors really being too small to fit many wedding dresses through.
Manual XJs? yes they weren't very popular at the time, I think there is a difference between the owners of new or nearly new luxo barges and the fans that drive them later on. The sort of person who wants a new limo is likely to want an auto. Later enthusiast might want a manual so they can drive it more enthusiastically. Personally I'd find a manual XJ would make as much sense as an automatic XK150. They did make manual X300s and they made auto XK150s, but neither would be my choice, but I can see why someone now might want a manual X300 XJR but not really for any other X300s.

OLE classic XKs don't look too bad, but I don't think it's there best colour either, they look good in solid greys whereas the one pearl grey E-Type looks a little uncomfortable and modern grey cars look silly - doesn't stop other liking them, maybe the 50s are back in fashion. I just hope 70s car colours don't come back.

Indeed. This is a luxury GT that they've done everything they can to turn into a racing car, save for the gearbox, which is still a luxury car 'box.

Personally, I don't really get it, and would save myself about £120k and just get a mint regular XKR. Maybe use the change to buy 'proper' track car for the fun weekends if that's your thing.

What do you think about this idea of Investment Potential ? I see this Investment word more and more from Dealers where Jaguars are concerned and much of it I think is nonsense .

Surely if they were such great investments the dealer would be putting their money where their mouths are. biggrin
I mean, why alert someone else to the chance of making a killing when you could stay quiet and clean up yourself.

I think its very cheap for a rare Jaguar especially when compared to earlier C , D and E Types and I suppose you could add the XKSS into this mix also.
Once you strip out Racing Pedigree and Model Recognition from the equation you are left with only rarity which I dont think is enough to make this a great Investment . In my view its a curiosity and nothing more .
