Really looking forward to this in the next couple of weeks , hoping for a bit of good weather and seeing some nice Classic Jaguars . I have always been a lover of the Mk10 which are fetching respectable money nowadays .

I’ll probably be there as long as I’m in the country. Are you a member of the club Reddiesel?

I have been canvassed many times over the years to rejoin but alas the JDC isnt for me . I was very disappointed some years ago regarding some Members attitudes to owners of the X type . All the standard " thats not a proper Jaguar " sniping . Then last year at Wappenbury whilst attending a Swallow Anniversary Event I had the further misfortune to be parked next to some " helmet " with an XK RS with pretty much the same attitude . All said and done I have many friends who are Members and the Editor of the Club Magazine is always very pleasant whenever I bump into her .

I know what you mean about peoples attitude to the X-type. Fans of the brand need to realise that everyone has to start somewhere and when they bought their E-types and the like back in the early 80s they were cheap old cars much like the X and S type are now. Like any club there are always people one wont get on with

There wasnt a single X Type nor modern S Type present at the Wappenbury event and that to my mind was a sad loss . I work within the Construction Industry and funnily enough last week at Breakfast time I came across something I hadn't seen for years and that was a tin of Pledge furniture polish . It was in the hands of an East European Labourer Lukaz and he was polishing the dash of his near immaculate X type Estate . Apparently it not only polished the veneer it also put a pleasant smell throughout the cabin so he took the view he got the Air freshener for free . I spent around ten minutes in his company and reluctantly showed him a picture of my SVR , it was one of those Jaguar discussions where the inevitable question pops up " what Jaguar do you drive " ? I shall take a look around the yard and see if I have any bits and pieces that may be of interest to him .

The Jaguar community can be a strange place. I don’t see similar attitude with other car brand fans except maybe the American car fans that can’t accept that a RHD Mustang is an American car

I quite liked the Jaguar club but it certainly had more than its share of boorish patronising men. As with all these things it can be the minority that catch the attention and most people I met were great fun..

I went to the centenary do at Brooklands. I enjoyed it, although the weather turned around midday and I had no cover for my camera, so left.

Lots of Jags. Lots of traffic as well. I wanted to park in the Mercedes Benz World car park by the access to the museum, but the traffic was back to the roundabout by the MBW front car park. I got there at 10 and there were crowds from the start.

Some lovely older ones, MkV and around. The only problem was, and it's rather selfish, how many cars there were. They were packed tightly so difficult to get a look at properly.

Good day, or morning rather. Pleased I went. I've got some video I'll post a link to later, Mods permitting.

I've belonged to a few car clubs in my time, and this minority seems to be present in all those I joined. One club meet there was a punchup, this at Stoneleigh. Honest feedback I suppose. The worst was the M-B OC, but even there it was a minority. Most were great although I still nurse a resentment towards one particular committee member. The best was the MG Owners. Locally there could be a Colonel Blimp, but these were largely derided and had few followers. Great magazine as well.

Thanks for coming. Will be good to see the video. Unfortunately the parking density was dictated by brooklands because they plan for 1000 cars and take up right round the banking. We got about 750 cars in the end plus the museum collection stuff. Was a shame that it rained from about noon. The dinner the night before had Sir John Egan, Jan Lammers, Andy Wallace and Tony Jardine at it and was also a great success along with the run out during the day to the private museum that raised nearly 10k for the childrens charity chosen by the owner

Hi, Craig. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I understand the problem and think you (I assume you're one of the organisers?) coped well with the tremendous turnout. It was rather impressive. I loved the cars of course. Nice people as well. My fault for not taking the cover for my camera. Let us know if there are any other events.

I keep my videos short, so it'll be about 3 minutes so don't hold out too much hope for an Emmy.

Yeah the weekend of events had been in the planning for a while. It’s a shame the weather on Saturday and Sunday was not reversed because the activities on the Saturday didn’t really need the sun!

Short videos are always the best. If you email it to me, or a link to where I can download it, I will share it on the Jaguar Drivers Club Instagram and Facebook pages if you would be happy for me to do that.

Will do. I'm happy for the sharing.

I'm an amateur though, and it normally shows.

Yeah that’s fine we encourage that because it makes it more real.

It turned out to be an interesting afternoon yesterday at the Shuttleworth Gathering of Early and Late S Type Jaguars . Both S Types were well represented with around 70 Jaguars in total present . It was a real pleasure to see a couple of almost mint STR Jaguars . These flying machines seem to be gaining a bit of a cult following , I havent recently looked at prices but they must surely be rising ? As always a good selection of other Jaguar Models but some surprising omissions with no E Types , X150 or XJS. Someone turning up in an E Type is usually a safe bet whenever Jaguar Owners gather together but not this time . In fact the Sports Cars were confined to various XK 8 Models , an XK150 S and a beautiful XK 140 FHC and that was it . Stars of the gathering for me were a couple of stunning XJRs , one an X358 in Silver with Black Leather and Callisto wheels and only 30,000 miles and one Owner from new . The Owner told me it was the last car his late wife sat in and he wouldn't part with it for any money . Dont get me wrong I liked it but once again I am drawn to the mess Jaguar made with the update from the X350 . I hate those Plastic Up and Under Front Grilles and Dummy Brake Cooling Vents , I also hate that bulbous rear Bumper . In fact the only worthwhile change over the old model was the integration of indicators in the door mirrors , the rest I could do without . As usual I am happy to hear other opposing views as this is what keeps the Forum going after all but it wouldn't be for me at any money and its easily a 30k car . It was when I turned away from the X358 that I saw her and I could feel my face breaking into a smile . It wore the Index Number 1XJR and was a Black X350 XJR with Red Leather Interior . It sat on Sepang Alloys with Dunlop Tyres and had a rare factory fitted sunroof and also rare for this model rear factory fitted entertainment . It was also specced with a Walnut Dash . It has had several Owners and the mileage is around 35000 the first Owner being some Sportsman whom I had never heard of but I had to admire his taste . Currently it is loved and worshipped by a Bedford based Gentleman who tells me the Grandkids love the rear entertainment screens , I had to smile . Looking at the Sepangs they seemed strangely dated and almost out of place on the car . The Callisto on the X358 to my eyes are a much more attractive wheel and some owners do retrospectively fit them but alas they destroy the originality . Its a beautiful car and if it had been the only Jaguar present I would have still travelled to see her , its a real privilege to see them this good and with proper Enthusiast Owners .
