Direct Line worked for me - mine was my only car and I did about 8K miles a year in it. The Jag is within the scope of 'normal' as far as insurance companies go. In fact I would have stayed with them for the DB9 - they were the equal best price, but wanted a Tracker which was a complexity I didn't want.

I am tempted to advise the Price Comparison Websites , I have used these for years and you will find all the household names on there .

Agreed, Admiral are fairly competitive these days, even on renewals, when previously, they (like almost all other insurance companies) would try to shaft you. I've had to claim with them years ago and they were pretty decent.

Price comparison websites are always worth checking out though. Meerkat, Confused, Moneysupermarket, Gocompare etc.

The FCA Pricing reforms came into force in January. Prior to this it would have been unviable for any company to have equalised new business and renewal premiums in mainstream insurance as you would have never attracted customers at first and then would have looked uncompetitive at renewal compared to the others anyway.
Would have been a direct path to bankruptcy. That’s why the FCA reforms were required if this outcome was required.

I know some think it was a bad thing but on balance for now appears to have had the intended effect which is good. Not to say it’s not worth shopping at renewal as claim statistics change over time but there is more chance that the renewal could be competitive. smile

When I renewed my insurance last October, they were still the cheapest fully comp quote which is great.

I've been with A-Plan for the duration of my ownership. They're a broker but generally very competitive rates with low excesses should you need to claim.

Been with Direct Line for a few years now, they've always been the cheapest by a long way. Mine is actually due for renewal mid July so I was looking around this morning, got within £20 via comparethemarket.com. Aviva were way off, as were Admiral. I guess I'm sticking with Direct Line, then.

Thanks all

I am with Churchills and they have covered me for years but I am shocked not only at how uncompetitive they are but also how poor the customer service has become. Their website and online 'dashboard' is either always down or takes an age to update, you can't see your policy, can't get a new quote as iot crashes. Shambolic really.
