Odd request but has anyone got any contacts at Jaguar SVO please? I have a Project 8 and want some work doing - paint work. I tried through November to talk directly via their homepage, the Jaguar contact centre and via social media, but no phone number or email I was given worked, and no answers via social media. I was then told by Jaguar customer services to speak to my local dealer. The service so far had been embarrassing. It took over 2 weeks of trying to speak to anyone, with escalation even to the dealer principle and head of after sales to get it moving, but realistically they were not bothered. Their view was that SVO have no consumer channels and any work required had to be through them? Now roll forward a month and I am chasing again for an update, and my emails are being ignored with not even “we’ve got your email, we will be back to you”. After 10 years of Porsche ownership where the service was impeccable, my initial experiences of JLR are worrying, so any help with contact details would be appreciated.

That should be the same BRG that’s on the F-Pace SVR from the SVO palette. It’s not the most common colour but there are a few about. How come it needs to go through SVO directly? Mine’s an SVO colour and the JLR approved bodyshop matched it (seemingly) perfectly. Crumpet said:

HiI am trying to make a warranty claim as i think the cracking around the parameter of the front grill is a defect. All the lacquer and paint has cracked and it falling away. I trust SVO more than I trust my dealer, especially based on the experience to date, and their recommended 'approved' paint shop does not fill me with confidence either. I am heading more towards finding the best bodyshop I can, and stomach the cost, rather than wait for JLR.

Which part of the country are you in? My SVR was in an accident recently and I was very wary about sending it to the JLR approved bodyshop. I actually rejected the car when they first gave it back as, frankly, it was s

To be honest I think you’ll be facing a real struggle to get SVO to refinish the paint; are they even set up for repairs? I’d push your dealer to sort it through their approved bodyshop and be very, VERY clear to them that you won’t accept anything other than factory finish.

Thanks. I am Berkshire, so Reading JLR is my nearest, I think they are Jardine Motors, and their attitude, and definition of “service” is a joke. They might be a little more interested when the next £1200 service is needed or I decide to spend £1000 on an Extended Warranty. Such a pity as I debated hard switching from Porsche, and even found myself looking at 911’s today 🤣t but it’s now come back spot on. Clearly they have two levels of finish; standard for your average driver who doesn’t give a st. And then ‘factory’ for those who are picky! So you’re right to cautious. Never heard of a paint issue on an P8, but there are so few of them so I suppose that's why. Good luck sorting it.

As far as I am aware there is no channel for SVO to take Cars back to do remedial Paintwork or indeed work of any kind . Another issue you will find is that many of these Bespoke add ons are completely unobtainable and not listed on any Jaguar Parts Databases . I found this out when trying to source the small SVR insignia on my F Type SVR Wheels . I had a vinyl sign maker do them in the end .
Not only that , many items of plastic bodywork trim are bonded and successful removal is a complete nightmare for any Bodyshop with many reluctant to start work unless they have replacements already in their possession .
You dont mention in your Post any preparations you may require before repainting ? I suspect it may also be a struggle to prove this is a Warranty issue , has the Main Dealer you bought it from given you any indications regarding liability ?
The good news is that the skills are out there to put matters right though undoubtedly at a price . These Guys I have both used and can recommend .

Jardine Motors here in MK are absolutely appalling , I absolutely slaughtered them in a Google review . I just got shot of my 911 GTS today , I actually did switchreddiesel said:

I think this will need the whole front end / spoiler removing, chips made good and all the cracked paint removed etc. Probably not straightforward, but agree that someone will sort it. Jaguar felt a warranty claim was possible, albeit the car is 6 months out of warranty. Thanks for your recommendation. Such a shame that dealers like that are allowed to carry on in that manner by JLR. I always had great service at Guy Salmon Wakefield for Land Rovers (despite the….er…..temperamental nature of the products) and equally as happy with Hatfields for the Jaguar experience. My one dealing with JLR customer service was also positive whereby they even pulled parts off the production line. If the dealers had been st I expect I’d have looked elsewhere but they’ve managed to keep me as a customer for over ten years now. I guess at some point you have to weigh up the stress and hassle of pursuing the warranty claim versus the £1500 of paying for the paintwork yourself.
Quick update thanks. After many emails, chaser emails and escalating to Jaguar head office, I have my car in the garage at the moment having all of the front end resprayed, and because of the horrendous service they offered to pay for it all ! It is with a Jaguar approved bodyshop, and it hopefully gets collected next week, and then it will get delivered for PPF, and even some new coloured wheels!
Fingers crossed for you and don’t take your eye of the ball just because it’s with a Jaguar Approved Bodyshop because that often means little when it comes to quality
Another thing with this application of PPF , this in my experience often hides a multitude of sins and once it’s applied it’s too late for recriminations . Make sure you check that paintwork before the PPF is applied . Sorry if it appears I am being a bit downbeat regarding your on the face of it good news but I’m genuinely concerned you aren’t being fobbed off here with a second rate job
Let us know when the job is done and perhaps a few pictures of your lovely car

Many thanks for your advice. I totally agree with your concerns. For my own peace of mind I contacted a IAEA car inspector firm yesterday to appoint them to oversea the work. Long story short the guy I spoke to, been in the industry years, coincidentally was local, and even more coincidentally knew the paint shop really well, and whilst doing himself out of a job, said the paint shop doing the work is the only place he would trust with his car, and people apparently come from many miles away to use them. The facility is impressive. Pristine condition and seemingly very knowledgeable about the car and the work. Full of quite nice cars, with challenging paint finishes!
I remain skeptical myself, and will definitely bring the car home (on a trailer) and get it fully looked over before then putting on a trailer to the detailer and for PPF. That is my next decision, who to trust with the PPF
