For years I wandered the Home Counties buying second hand Jaguars . Beaconsfield and Gerards Cross , Guildford and Godalming , Weybridge and Esher . The Jaguars all seemed to live in locations similar to the one above with Gravel Driveways and Rhododendron Bushes , the Daily Telegraph and the Surrey Comet , Afternoon Tea and watching Cricket . Sir William Lyons served this type of Middle Class Customer for decades . Grace , Space and Pace was invented for them and they kept coming back for more of the same . In Towns the length and breadth of Britain young lads like I would watch them drive past and like in the famous advert press our noses against Showroom Windows . They wont do that Today .
I dont know what you think of the car above ? Its unusual in Black and its unusual with a sunroof . I like the black leather and I love the wooden dash . I love to see a History like this and given the mileage and overall condition I think its probably near its money . I really need to get another Jaguar and a garage for there are some lovely cars around just now .weeping

That is a lovely looking car.

The old Jaguar market is mainly catered for by Range Rover these days, I think, as cars have fallen out of fashion. Having said that, a Surrey-based friend of mine is on his 3rd modern XK. He covers less than 1000 miles per year, it is a completely inappropriate car for his needs, but he loves it.

Oh thank god
I'm saved
It has a sun roof and black leather
I'd feared for a moment that was going to be very expensive for me biggrin

I enquired about this same ad for this very car with that same dealer around 6/7 months ago. He got back to me to tell me it had already been sold.

It then subsequently appeared on Targa Florio Cars website about two weeks later marked up at about £25k (or something in that region). It was definitley the same car as it was identical in all respects to this one, including mileage and the missing exhaust tips that you will note from from the photos.

Can't find the ad from Targa Florio cars but i've found the YouTube walkaround. Absolutely 100% it's the same car.

What I can't understand is why Simon Abbott still has this same advert up in multiple locations for a car that he apparently sold more than 6 months ago.

While my aversion to the black leather interior may be due to my nihilistic tendencies alas my wish to avoid the sunroof isn't.
I'd hoped that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-TcCbq8yWk would explain it, but I'm afraid not. This you tube film just sings the praises but JC also pointed out the problems with the X300 (which the X308 shares) while his comment that even Sir Douglas Bader would complain about the rear leg room is of no worry to me what so ever, there is a cost the height of the car. I was once collecting the youngest from nursery at the same time as another father pulled up next to me in his 911, climbing out he glanced over, took a double take and "Good god! that things even lower than my car".
You see the headroom is somewhat lacking. Even without the sunroof I only just avoid contact with the headlining. The sunroof steals 2 or 3 inches. I'm sure there are those that would feel removing my head would be no great lost, but without my head I'd not be able to truly appreciate the beauty of the XJ.
An X300 is in so many ways a reworked XJ40 and the X308 carries that body forward. They didn't have the money or time to do anything major to the body, just sort out the styling and debug everything. So the interior is a carry over from 70s when Jaguars were designed to wrap around the late great Norman Dewis and while I'm not tall my modern standards I'm not of Norman's stature either.
Oh and if you do watch the video I'd have to agree with JC's comments except that while he just ran his for 15 months I've had mine for 27 years now. OK it's not on the road at the moment and that's a long story but the issues aren't due the mechanical bits. It still starts without drama.
