You might not know though that the car I know so well, the only 3.6 left in Europe, has recently been sold and will be completely rebuilt.

Hi Toad,
Eventer N°40 to be auctionned by Bonhams is a lovely car. It was mine until July 2014 and, yes I do know her very well.
There are two 3.6 Eventer in EU, N°43 which is in France (the only one automatic 3.6) and N°42 (one of two manual 3.6, the other one, N°22, being in Australia). Too bad you, or Petronel, didn't tell me about N°42 before it was sold. Some of our common friend was dreaming of for years, not willing to be ennoying with Petronel asking her to sell what she said was not for sale. I hope it'll be in good hands and we'll see it again shortly. Should the new owner need specific Eventer parts or info's please let him know he can contact me anytime.

My mistake; I should have put "manual" in the wording. I had no idea myself until told by a friend though. It is in good hands, a Jaguar enthusiast through and through, and should be back on the road in a year or so. And she got a fair price for it too, much higher than we discussed a couple of years back.
ETA. I do know that when Lynx were still operating she bought two spare side windows for the car and Lynx agreed to keep them for her.

When I bought the Eventer archives from Lynx thanks to Neville Swales I also bought the few remaining spare parts. Amongst them were a dozen pair of side windows wearing the name of their owners which bought and paid for them with Lynx offering to keep them stored for free until they'd need them. When Lynx was closed, JMT was not very fair with these owners as they were not informed their windows will be locked for years and years and they were not invited to pick them up before closing of the company's premises. More unfair was Nigel Forsythe, Lynx owner, that asked me to pay for these side windows (as for any other bits of Eventer I saved from being split around the world) even if he was perfectly informed these were not his property! Should I have been given these windows I would have been happy giving them to their known owners. After long discussions with Nigel it was agreed I'd pay a little bit more for these Windows than I would have paid them from the glass factory, this because I should have ordered many more to run a new production. This to explain I cannot give these Windows but can only sell them to Eventer owners even if some of them will pay them twice should they finally need a pair.
I have side windows and can supply shaped rubber seals for them. I can also supply new hatch windows, tailgate seals, C pillar air vent trimming, badges and other specific parts from the shelf. I can help with side windows and rear windows finishers as I have templates and jigs to make new ones, the same for inside triming.

Thread resurrection - there’s one in the classifieds ... https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Came across this thread by accident! Never knew what an Eventer was until now, and spotted one back in 2012 at my friend’s garage Auto Audio in Park Royal. It was in almost new condition. I took some pics that day but unfortunately you can only make it out in the background, along with part of the plate.
An interesting story. Paolo Gucci had the family rights in he UK but not in Europe I believe. He came to an agreement with Lynx to make a number of special build Eventers accessorizes with Gucci luggage, brolly, etc. It was displayed at Geneva, but hurriedly removed when the gfamily row about territorial rights blew up, and the car was taken back to the UK and stored away, never to be seen again. I spent ages tring to trace it 15 years ago, and then suddenly there was a cagey post here from Birmingham way asking about the value of this special car. I sent a pm asking if it was for sale trying to buy it but never got a reply. I know it was sold on (auction?) but whether it was restored first I don't know.
The interior of the car is like a sheikh's brothel, very gaudy, with awful marquetry. A brochure was prepared for the sale of the cars, but that was the only one. Here are photos of the brochure.
Any chance of a scan of the artcle? I can't get it here in France.

I actually saw that Gucci Eventer in real life and it certainly is/was something of an acquired taste.
If memory serves me right, it had been sold by one of the big auction houses and the buyer sent it to a Jaguar specialist in Newcastle Under Lyme which is where I saw it. It was parked outside their premises on a low loader to be delivered back to the owner.
I posted a couple of photos on the classic cars spotted thread but can’t find them now (it must have been at least a couple of years ago).
