E type?
XJ220?
XJC?

What do you reckon and why?

I think the XK140 comes close - style, grace, poise and elegance.

Personally I love the E-Type, absolutely stunning in the flesh. Also have an affection for the XJ220 but....

Greatest Jag ever? Got to say the last couple of XJ's have been superb cars and embody what Jaguar is all about.

Controversial? Maybe but I'll stick by my decision.

Well I love XK140s, the DHC best, but I prefer the other two generations.
The X300 is brilliant and the X308 doesn't loose too much with the cheap bumpers :-)

But then there is the XJ13.

But for all time greatness and not just appearance I used to favour

I hope Dinkel won't mind me putting this shot of his that to me epitomises Jaguarness here.

But now I can't decide between the D and the C

D-Type for me too.

It pushed technology forwards, had competition success, with the fin has one of the most unmistakable profiles of any car and spawned one of the rarest road cars ever made.

C-Type for me.

The most beautiful Jag ever, and the first car to win Le Mans with an average over 100mph. Pretty impressive.

Greatest Jaguar ever built? It's pointless trying to compare apples with oranges, bananas etc so logic decrees that it must be the XK 120 as everything else descended/was developed from that model.

Hmmm, going by that logic shouldn't the greatest Jaguar actually be a tiny aluminium sidecar then? wink

Ah yes, good point - I can see that my only defence is to hide behind semantics, sooo, I'll have to say that that would be the greatest Swallow ever built; 'Jaguar' only came on the scene after the war (other than as a model name of course.)

But the XK120 used the engine designed for the MkVII and the chassis for the MkV
Considering they knocked it up quickly as a way to show off the new engine it did rather well.

don't forget that technically this is also an XK120

Probably the D type which gave us disc brakes and the E type. I hope the greatest Jaguar is yet to come, and I have a feeling the next XJ could be it.

The disc brakes were first used on the C-Types. Mostly famously winning the 53 Le Mans, but they had been tested in other races before then.

Thanx Ken.

120 for looks, but a nice 140 / 150 ain't bad either. They seem to be the driverscars.

Although the LW E-types:

E at the Ace Caf.

I thought there was a picture of Exkay's 120 FHC on PH but I can't find it, that is really pretty.
