Brilliant! Had a flat battery (2012 XK) so jump started it and then put it on a trickle feeder. Couldn't understand why some lights were staying on. Read this thread, re-started the engine, put the electronic parking brake on this time, turned engine off and all lights went out. So now I know why I was getting a flat battery and how not to in future. Cheers guys smile

I had three S Type and an XF, all V8s, and now a Land Rover Discovery Sport, all with electric parking brakes. Not once have I ever parked up and applied the brake. Never created any problems by doing this.

Steve P,
All of your symptoms point to a weak battery, I don't care what the test of the battery shows. Any of us with X150s know that when you start getting crazy warnings or the screen freezes, there's not enough voltage powering the electronics. Get a new battery and your problems should disappear. Also, a similar situation to yours happened to me a couple of weeks back. Something drained my battery, couldn't start the car and my access key didn't fit in the trunk opening. Fortunately, I remembered there was a jump post under the rear driver's side (near back wheel) and we were able to power it up from there. I took my 1 year old battery back to the store from which I bought it. They did a full charge on it, and it's been fine ever since. I still don't know what drained the battery in the first place. Also, about 2 months ago, I was in the hospital for several days, and when I went to drive home, my XKR started up right away, but I had no screen, just black. I restarted the car but still nothing. I drove home, about a 45 minute drive, and when I got home, locked the car and then restarted the car, and everything returned to normal. The battery had recharged along the trip home and provided enough power to charge the electronics.
