Jaguar Lister XJ12 Coupe info

RobXjcoupe sorry been away. I would suggest go for the uprated bushes not sure what is fitted to Lister as all running gear is in storage. However I attach a picture from 30 years ago of my first XJC and wow despite circa 13 years old at that time what a beauty, when I brought it people thought I had totally lost It? The replacement roof is now fitted to the Lister so photos to follow as and when I receive them?

Lots done in above photo fitting new metal in inner wings and front bulkhead and very nicely done. Re the rear wings below do they look salvageable to use? To me they must be repairable surely?
They don't look beyond salvation, you may not have much choice; I struggled to find coupé rear wings 30 years ago, at £750 ish each then.Jag53c said:

Black and chrome is fab. Hides the vinyl roof in my opinion. Edited by Jag53c on Wednesday 4th September 05:41

Etypephil that’s good thinking re the door skin. I am sticking with wide body so it may not work? The body side skirt will abut the underside of the lower rear wing panel effectively to the top of the outer sill.
The doorskin idea was actually from RobXjcoupe. I used to fabricate that area from flat sheet as the shape is very simple, and of course sheet steel is even cheaper than chips. The current colour that the Lister was painted is 1960’s Mercedes Benz colour dark blue DB-332. As photo
However I have been recently looking for a similar but a more modern Jaguar Land Rover equivalent. I went earlier to my local JLR dealership to view more current/modern metallic blue colours, and the “Loire Blue” metallic looks an appropriate combination of dark blue and black dependent upon how the light falls on the colour. Could be the choice? Check it out on JLR website.

An original jag coupe was available in dark blue. It’s colour name, dark blue. Just a gloss. Then a series 3 version was called Westminster Blue. My coupe was painted Westminster blue. Looked nearly black when polished. Plain gloss dark colours do give a better mirror like finish I think.
I’m not restoring my coupe back to the dark blue again. I fancy something a little lighter and unique. With your wide body lister that too could look well with a lighter colour shade

Yes both the above are very nice colours and ideas thank you. This is the Loire blue metallic picture I took yesterday.
I have even considered simulating the vinyl roof as well with a black metallic, now there is a strange retro thought?

In your minds eye what finish are you after?
Black painted roof on a dark blue car will look odd.
Two tone from the side style line. Top in dark blue and below style line in black. That would look good.
Yes I was on the dark side because I was in a dealership and didn’t have the angle to get the sunny side, the car on the far side was too close. Anyway don’t panic totally agree with your comment re black roof although there are lots of BMW mini and Range Rover with that combination. I do think the XJC without vinyl needs to be dark in colour or they look odd as to me there is something missing?
