Yes it is possible, not that I'm into that

In the XK8/R Enthusiasts Club's Forum there is a lot on that

You have to be a Member to get into the forum, join through www.xkec.co.uk

In am awaiting my membership and have just sold my TVR in favour of an XKR Coupe for just this reason.
I can just fit my Maxi-cosi cabriofix seat for 0-12 month babies, but the passenger seat must be all the way forward.

The seat from 12 months+ is alot less deep and should strap in quite easily compared to the cabriofix, I will look at the maxi-cosi tobi - but have not tried it yet in the Jag.

If your not in a rush, I will be doing some research on XKEC soon

Yeah Hiya

Firstly, if you have an XK, then you really should join XKEC, its a superb forum with everything you could ever ask and more.... I bought a group buy exhaust, got cheaper tickets to an event and must of saved 4 times its cost price to join. Even without that I would stay a member...... anyway.....

Regarding car seats, I have gone with the Britax Evolva 123Plus - This seat is of medium compactness (there are smaller) but really well padded and secure. when its fitted in either car, its rock solid and wont move an inch.
It fits the XKR back seats really well & I dont think it will be a problem until she reaches 3 years old when her legs are kicking the back of the seat !!!!!

Anyway, i'd recommend it. They are £150 in mothercare, however i price matched against an online store & got one for £99 !

I beleive Britax do a slightly narrower version for smaller spaces, however I primarily need mine in my daily car, so went for the normal one

good luck

Hello, many thanks for your response. I am just weighing out the pros and cons of the xkr vs m3 coupe decision. I love the xkr so I am trying work out how practical it will going forward. If I do go down the xkr route I am bound to go down the xkec memberships route.

Once the seat is fitted how did you find the space in the cabin? Do the front passengers have enough space? Is it crammed in there. Also do you have a push chair in your boot? How are you finding the xkr for practical life with a child?

Is there enough space?

Thank you for your advice.

Regards

our bagaboo fits no problem, as does our chicco stroller. I can get our bugaboo + travel cot and small travel suitecase in the boot!

Good taste obviously goes further than the cars....

We too have a Bugaboo Chameleon travel system and it fits easily in the boot with the wheels on. The three of us went away to the in-laws in the XKR with all the pushchairs, sterilisers & baby food and it all worked well.

To be honest the only 'not so' practical element is the fact its a 3 door coupe with big doors & i am paranoid about parking it in public car parks.
I drive a big estate car as my daily driver, so its easy to take that when we have alot of stuff, but at the weekends I make a point of mainly using the Jag.

With the 0-12month MaxiCosi car seat fitted the passenger was forced to fold up their knees a bit, but with the 12month+ seats there is alot more room. With the Britax in place, I would say that the seat can use about 50% of its front to back travel and still be comfortable for baby and front seat passenger.
I am 6ft and can sit in the passenger seat quite comfortably with the Britax in place, albeit a little cosy, but thats the cabin all over in an xkr.

I'll post seperately about your car choice........ here it comes

XKR Vs M3 coupe

An easy decision for me as I dont really like german cars, find them a bit sterile & charecterless, but thats just an opinion & I know im in the minority.

However the cars are wildly different. The M3 does everything well, from supermarket shopping to doing a lap of the nurbergring, its certainly a more rounded product........ But

.....Thats the issue, its a product, like a Dyson or a washing machine. Does it stir your soul ? Does it have the X factor ?

For me, every time i get in to the XK, I feel very special, the driving experience, the road presence, the fact there are no low spec versions.

Is that an M3 or a 320i with a bodykit ?

My buying decision was similar - XKR or 911 996 carrera. I had a look at both, but for me, the XKR made me feel great before i started the engine, the 911 felt a bit bare and plasticy in comparison.

Other readers - please dont jump in and start an argument, i know my opinion is not always in agreement with yours, but I just travel a different road. I will probably have a 911 at some point but it will have to be a GT or Turbo

Just found this thread, it is really useful as I have just sold the chim due to arrival of baby and am about to go looking at XKR's. Knowling that others have fit bugy in the boot and car seat will make convincing the better half much easier

I sold my TVR when I had my daughter, bought the XKR

Very different, but loads more power & grace. The build quality is great and you can modify them too. Youll have to do the exhaust & supercharger pulley

By the way I am looking for a 2007/8 Xkr, if I do an Xkr. The only thing putting me off is the lack of rear space for a child seat for a 2 year old.

Rear sears can 'accomodate' a child but it is a huge compromise i.e. no front seat passenger tbh. the car seats will also damage the leather seat bolster too. best bet as much as I hate to say it, would be a 911 or stick with the M3.

I have seen this....

http://maxi-cosi.com/products/car-seats/child/fero...

I have been holding off buying my car as I am saving up. Downside is my mind wonders... Hence I keep thinking of the Xkr. I do not want to do the 911 tbh.

My son is about 12kg. So I am thinking it might be possible to get the above car seat in. The dimensions seem workable. I want to check this out this weekend.

M3 is still a option, I do love it. However the Xkr is so stunning.
